Rhymesayer’s Brother Ali and Roc-A-Fella’s Freeway perform their joint off Jake One’s White Van Music during a show in Minneapolis. This is very cool to see. And if you haven’t seen Brother Ali perform live you’re wasting your life away.

Outside the White Van Music release party in Seattle, Jake One speaks on his (incredibly dope) new album that drops October 8th! One of my favorite albums of the year and actually the first cd I played in my new whip (more on that later). Actually… I put in The Great Beat Writer first, because I wanted to hear Rock Kokaine Flow.

Brother Ali talks about his experience working with Jake One, breaks down independent and mainstream hip hop and shares some of his favorite tracks off the album. I haven’t gotten my hard copy yet so I doon’t know first hand, but apparently the liner notes of White Van Music hold some interesting info. Like the Freeway x Brother Ali joint (The Truth) was supposed to be for Free’s last album and was gonna orinally supposed to be a Free x Jay-Z x Kanye West track. Then a bunch of other artists (Nas, Young Buck, Elzhi, etc) recorded over the instrumental but nothing ever formulated. Damn…

Then on Nov. 4th the top 5 songs will be posted for a final vote from fans. If you take the win you get a brand new beat and a recording session with the Seattle producer to create an original song that will be released as a single through RSE. Dope!

When I posted the Bishop Lamont x Busta Rhymes joint off Jake One’s White Van Music I said I would only post one more track from the album. And that is this. A really dope collaboration between Slug (of Atmosphere) and Posdnuos (of De La Soul). I was under the impression that it was P.O.S. (of Doomtree) so I’m both sadly mistaken yet pleasantly surprised. On one hand Sluggo & P.O.S. make great fuckin’ music together and on the other hand it’s Pos from De La Soul! So here you go dopeboyz and dopegirlz and be sure to cop the album on October 7th!
