For the past few months the homie Spec Boogie has been flipping samples and themes from movies for joints off what was first called the Summer Movie Madness project. Now with new site up and running, he’s released the a .zip with all of the songs under the title Specflix (Scene 1). During my last trip to NYC I “ordered” mine while chilling in his basement. The three Lessondary clansmen perform my favorite Everything’s Good Ugly cut at Brooklyn’s Public Assembly this past weekend.

Okay, Summer Movie Season is officially done and It’s dropping next week. I promise. While putting the finishing touches on Summer Movie Season I downloaded Melo-X’s Maxwell remix project but only listened to the first two songs before I went out into the night to see Melo & Diz Gibran at SOB’s. While there I told Melo I was planning on rocking to Higher and then went and had a night that didn’t land me home until late the next afternoon. When I sat to write to Higher I listened to the whole tape and decided to rhyme on the entire project bout that one night while I was still experiencing it. Here it is.

For the latest video I give you Akira, the greatest anime ever and one of my favorite films of any genre. Akira takes a complex look at the danger of power without focus or purpose. This one was produced by myself by chopping up three different songs from the soundtrack and if I’m not mistaken is my first beat released to the public (but not my last). If you are unfamiliar with this classic, you might recognize some of the imagery was borrowed for Kanye West’s Stronger video and I will forever be jealous that he got to do that before I did.

since I couldn’t really think up a theme to go along with this weeks film, I used Bruce Lee’s dedication and tireless training for being the best at his craft as a parallel my own hunger for this rap thing. enjoy
