Most Self Scientific fans know that a number of the songs that DJ Khalil does with other artists were originally songs or ideas intended for Self Scientific. Cashmere Agency and Prohibit NYC Present I Would Have Killed This is a full mixtape by Self Scientific’s frontman Chace Infinite and finds him going in over some of the more well-known beats that his partner, DJ Khalil, produced for other artists. The first joint leaked was over the popular Kinda Like A Big Deal track that featured The Clipse and Kanye West. Next, Chace attacked I Still Kill, the beat Khalil produced for 50 Cent and Akon. In classic Self Scientific fashion, Chace changes the subject matter to instead discuss life and his attempts to understand his own journey. Earlier this month I changed gears and decided to switch up the What’s in the Tapedeck. The homie Chace Infinite recently shot a video for the second single off his upcoming mixtape, I Would Have Killed This. A tape that will showcase Chace rhyming over beats his partner in hip hop (Self Scientific), DJ Khalil, crafted for other folks in the industry.

Shot in the streets of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY..by Wesley Clouden (NappieeCorps). Me and my comrade Dedan Kasimu (Megabone) was just rollin’ around the neighborhood I live in. We wanted to capture the feeling of an ordinary day, how my day usually starts..walking to the train. I thought it would be dope to shoot a video for a song that Jay-Z Did with Khalil, in Brooklyn since Jay-Z didn’t…Here a couple of the screen shots from the day.

Here’s some footage of DJ Khalil and the homie Chace Infinite in the studio working on a joint called Verses which will be featured on their upcoming EP, Designer Music. And word is… Sean Price might (and should) be on the final version.

And today my need has been met as I just got this new joint off the upcoming Soul Assassins album, (Intermission, June 23rd). Wheeew, DJ Khalil is an absolute demon haha; and Chace Infinite is an emcee I advise none of you supposed hip hop heads sleep on.

This is a joint called Personal Religion that I did before Khalil actually gave the beat to Dre. I hadn’t come with the hook yet, and by the time I heard Jay’s version, I realized it was probably in the stars, he killed it. This is the first vocal version. Whatever..Khalil’s shit makes you reflect and think deep, the proof is in Jay’s song as well…he wrote a joint to his moms…WORD. Personal Religion, no hook, just raps….I Would Have Killed This coming soon.

As said on the official Self Scientific blog, fans of SS should know that a lot of the songs Khalil produces for other artists were originally ideas for Self Scientific. That being said, Chace decided to put together a mixtape over beats Khalil has done for others; and title it I Would Have Killed This. A very fitting name for anyone who knows Chace’s abilities. And why not — for the first leak — go over one of the most talked about tracks of the year?
