Browsing the internets on this slower than molasses Tuesday morning I see that OKP has put up a new Dice Raw joint. Dope. D.R.’s been doing it for over 14 years now. Runnin with the Roots crew since ‘94. And according to dantana there’s atleast 75 unreleased joints chillin. I wonder if those will ever come out. I need some more Nouveau Riche though!

Before I head out to watch comedy (Carrell) and cute (Hathaway) starring in Get Smart. I wanted to drop a song on ya’ll that I’m pretty sure a lot of people have slept on over the years. And it’s quite creative and dope. Last Emp puts together an imaginary tale of comic book characters put up against raw lyrics. Redman vs Hulk, Storm vs Lauryn Hill, Method Man vs Wolverine, etc. And just because, I included a clip from And1 v2 that had another dope track from the Emp, Do You Remember?. I sure remember when the first And1 tape dropped on VHS. I grabbed that shit and ran home to watch on my 13inch tube ha.

First off, I’d like to send my condolences to Xzibit and his family for the loss of their recent newborn. Last year, Shake and HipHopDX put together a mixtape full of music from all the artists that would be attending the Paid Dues Festival. Slimm (our usual DJ) had issues and couldn’t take care of it, so I mixed the thing myself in a few hours and we got it to press. We titled it Independent As F*ck and printed up thousands of them. We passed them out at the show, put it up for free download, etc. The response was great. Now a year later and Paid Dues was in full effect once again. I didn’t get to attend because of A3C being the same weekend but it’s all good, DX was definitely a presence! We had DJ El.K mix this years tape and there’s music from all the artists that were on the bill. From Murs to Little Brother, Sage Francis to P.O.S., Boot Camp Clik, Dilated Peoples, Hieroglyphics and much more. Enjoy!

What’s crazy is that that is only about half of the releases from the Living Legends (from group to solo projects). On April 8th, the Living Legends crew are dropping two releases. The entire Living Legends crew (Murs, The Grouch, Eligh, etc) are releasing a 7 track EP, The Gathering. Each track has all 8 members getting down. Also, The Grouch is releasing his first solo project in close to 5 years, Show You the World. Be on the lookout for a full-length LP from the Living Legends later this year.

DJ Mister Cee put together one of the best mixes in tribute to the Notorious one. 10 years after Big’s untimely death, Mister Cee released a 10th Anniversary Edition, fully stacked with original recordings, unreleased material, live performances and much more.
