My personal most anticipated track off the upcoming BlakRoc project, dropping on Black Friday (11/27).

An album featuring the Black Keys and some of the biggest names in hip-hop will be released Nov. 27 2009 (the so-called “Black Friday” day after Thanksgiving) under the name Blakroc. The project was spearheaded by rapper Jim Jones and also sports contributions from Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Applaud Dame Dash for having a hand in all this.

Considering I missed out on all things CMJ this past week, I’m really glad something like this was put together. A couple of weeks ago, we sent out video of Blu and Pharoahe Monch speaking about the upcoming Shafiq Husayn album entitled “Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka” dropping October 6th on Plug Research. Later that night, an amazing array of musicians came together to take part in a jam session of epic proportions. Featuring Pharoahe Monch, Shafiq Husayn (SA-RA), Om’Mas Keith (SA-RA), Brook D’leau (J Davey), Mark De Clive Lowe, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Suite for Ma Dukes), Thundercat, and more, it was definitely a night to remember. Alright ya’ll… as you can see from the title I’m gonna be switching things up from now on. For the first 32 volumes, I was using the Tapedeck as a post to place tracks I didn’t feel deserved it’s own post, tracks I missed, etc. But over the months I’ve been wanting to put up mixes with my personal playlists. So from here on out the Tapedeck will revolve around what I’m actually bumpin. There won’t be a specific day or routine for these… just when I have time I’ll put together something for ya’ll.
