Stones Throws’ newest talent, Mayer Hawthorne, graced the Windy City with an hour long set, performing tracks off his debut, A Strange Arrangement. Among the cuts found on his album, he also performed a few covers of some soul classics and a reggae version of Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out which you will find after the jump. Props to Alex (RH).

You haven’t seen much (if anything) from ArtOfficial at the dopehouse, but I promise you will soon enough. Starting with these two live performances at Tobacco Road in Miami, FL. Since May 15th, Coldplay has been giving away this live CD at every remaining show in 2009 (outside of their festival shows). The 9-track collection was also put on their website for free download. But since I know a lot of the dopeboyz don’t like signing up for stuff; I included a direct link after the jump.

According to the band, the give-away is meant as a recession-busting mark of gratitude to everyone who’s supported them: “Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans – the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen.”

I don’t have much faith that this will work. Considering things like this never do. But hey… we’ll give it a shot. The event sold out in 5 hours, so here’s to a working stream and a great show. UPDATE: And the bad comes before any good… Just got word Drizzy isn’t expected to be on until 12EST (9 for the West Coasters). I should be gone before that. I’ve got business to attend to.

The day after Asleep in the Bread Aisle hit stores (and took over the number one spot on iTunes) Asher performed in NYC at the Gramercy Theater. It sure took me long enough to edit the footage and get it uploaded, but I’ve done it. When Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz & Royce Da 5′9″ took the stage, I was actually in the press area behind them. I heard their intro and skipped a few walls, bypassed a few security gorillas and stood right in front of the stage (*shrugs…. I got it like that). I missed them open up with Slaughterhouse and got set for Joell to perform Hip Hop (shown above). Pardon the bass distortion as I’m not working with thousand dollar equipment and I was basically standing on a subwoofer. It gets better… especially when I skip some more walls, bypass more security and check the show from on stage (I told you… I got it like that haha). I have to say, my favorite part of the their performance was when Joey jumped off stage to watch Crooked I spit from a fans perspective. The way him and Joell were vibing to Crook spitting was dope to see. Artists enjoying music. Slaughterhouse!!!
