Here goes a bonus joint from the recently released collaborative album between J Rawls & John Robinson. A tribute album to both genres of jazz and hip hop (as well as the revolutionary spirit of the 1960’s).

The 1960’s Jazz Revolution Again…. not only embodies the spirit of that time period, but provides an education to listeners who may overlook the influence of jazz music on hip hop culture.

Jay ARE’s The 1960’s Jazz Revolution Again is in stores today.

Since splash!-Mag started last year, we had a couple of great moments. We did one of our most impressive interviews with Frank Bush and Derrick Harvey aka Frank N Dank. At this year’s splash!-Festival Frank N Dank met John Robinson aka Lil’Sci (from Scienz of Life) for the first time in their life. We filmed their conversation about (the mystery of) J. Dilla and the greatness of the hiphop culture. Get to know three artists, who are not only great when it comes to music…

Both J Rawls and John Robinson have combined forces for their group Jay ARE. Together they made a project in ode to jazz music and the culture during that time period. Their album “The 1960’s Jazz Revolution Again…” not only meshes both jazz and hip hop together but carries the spirit of the times, as socio-political unrest also inspired some of the best music that is still cherished today. Props to J. Kim (no relation).

The two perform their cut off Spinna’s Sonic Smash, which is in stores now.

I have to admit, I’m still confused about this whole project. But I do know that this specific cut (as well as many others) is extremely dope!

Vosotros is the wildly eclectic label and creative mastermind behind The Years, a funky bunch of tunes where each song is representative of a different decade. The 90’s themed track comes from Scienz of Life alum, John Robinson, who adds some Slick Rick spit to Heartbreaker.
