Nah, let’s keep it going with that good music. This right here is off American Beauty. An album, that Alexipharmic released last month. It’s obvious I’m late on this post; but the basis behind the album and what dude is doing is too dope to sleep on.

Most of American Beauty was written while on a 30 state, 10,000-mile road trip.  Throughout the journey Alex interviewed countless men, women, and children of all walks of life at each stop.  He ended up weaving the broad spectrum of the stories he recorded on the road with his own unique personal experiences.  The result is an album that breathes with energy and ambition, and reflects the hopes, broken dreams, unity, division, optimism and voice of our current society.

Not only that but he’s worked on the Save Darfur project and will be donating 50% of his musical proceeds to charity. He’s also part of the 2009 American Beauty Tour; which will partner with Feed the Children. Giving 100% of the tour’s net proceeds to combat child hunger and homelessness in America. Dope music w/ a few (2)dope approved artists and positive output on today’s society? Some awesome stuff right here.

I first introduced ya’ll to Ankh Amen Ra when I spoke my mind on Darfur. After that I dropped a video as well as his mixtape, Face the Day, Come What May. I really respect Ra’s music because of the message he portrays through his words. And with him, I can hear the sincerity. Now I wanted to drop his latest song, Yes We Can. I’m sure the title gives off what the subject matter is, so please check it out and show some love on his MySpace if you’re digging it.

Here at 2dopeboyz, we pride in having a well mixed balance of music to reach all types of fans. And I personally wanna use this platform to put you guys on to new music, or maybe something you heard about but never listened to. Enter Ankh Amen Ra, who I first mentioned earlier this month when I dropped an unofficial video for his track A New Movement. I also posted one of his most impressive songs, Darfur. One month later and AAR now has an in depth discussion about the ongoing genocide in Sudan with my dude Slava on HipHopDX. AAR also blessed us with a free DL of his new EP, Face the Day Come What May. So as usual, I will state that you shouldn’t zZzZz on this man. Trust me.

I woke up today feeling refreshed. Then I realized how lucky I am to just do that. Me and Meka have ran this blog since late October and we’ve gained a decent following (thank you). So … with this post I want to use the audience that we’ve garnered and try and help with awareness on the ongoing genocide in the western region of Sudan (that’s northeastern Africa, for those of you who aren’t big on geography © The Rawg). There’s been over 200k people killed and over 1million people have been displaced from their homes due to all the violence.

I admit I’m NO genius in this area, but I do know the jist of the whole situation and know SOMETHING has to be done. If I could think of more things to do I would (I did a flyer for an event on the crisis, but outside of that I’m unfulfilled in my actions). I was hit with an email from an emcee that goes by the name of Ankh Amen Ra. And he’s in the same boat … wanting to spread the awareness. He recorded this song with that in mind. His current mission is to get some support from the hip hop community to fly over to eastern Chad with a small video crew and shoot a guerilla style video at an actual refugee camp to try for some more awareness and an immediate call to action.
