In preparation for the upcoming Greenhouse release (Electric Purgatory pt.1) on November 24th, Blueprint & Illogic participated in a question and answer session where questions were submitted by their fans, and titled it Greenhouse 101. We think it will explain a lot of the history and future of the Greenhouse crew.

This is easily one of my most anticipated projects in the months to come. Print & Illogic are fucking dope.

If your music taste resembles anything of mine, the title of this post is rather exciting. Dropping the Effect from the name, Blueprint & Illogic are working on some new material and will be releasing an EP called Electric Purgatory on November 24th (via Weightless Recordings). The first in a two part series that will be available for free download. A CD version (accompanied with instrumentals and a poster) will then be made available for purchase at weightless.net. And as an added bonus, I’ve included a joint off their Columbus Or Bust album. Dedicated to all you c-section hard heads.

BP3-Qual features some pretty fresh DJ Noodles blends/mash-ups featuring Rihanna, Nas, Lil Wayne, Drake, Jadakiss, Kanye West & Young Jeezy. Where as The Blueprint: Reconstructed is just that… KN ran a contest for folks to rework the production side of Hov’s classic. Each producer used the same samples for each record. I have to admit, when I first got wind of Donnis I instantly threw him in the Hipster category, etc. This shit right here though is dope. The modern day “maxi” single is here folks. Tonight I got an email about someone inquiring about help with a list of songs about the love of hip hop. A project they were putting together for school. It reminded me of a few years back… in 2005 I used to surf around the internets, checking out certain forums and what not. Putting together little compilations for the people around the way. This particular mix was perfect for the dopeboy who sent the email; and I figured since it’s already uploaded I’d share with ya’ll as well.

There’s no exclusives or anything. Just a collection of tracks I put together a few years back that represented an artists love for hip hop. Pretty good mix of artists if I don’t say so my self. From Atmosphere to The Roots, Zion I to Aceyalone, Cee-Lo to The Thrday, Common, LL Cool J and more.

Ohh… the designs of 4 years ago haha.

Here goes the second installment of Shake Diaries before I pass out and forgot shit. First off I wanna send a shout out to Jake and RSE for hooking up a kid with the tickets shown above (now bearing ANT’s sharpie skills). Myself and the misses arrive around 7:30 to find out the show started at 5 (all ages shows will do that to you). So unfortunately we missed out on Abstract Rude & Blueprint. We came in during intermission and the venue was PACKED. I’m telling you, there we’re easily more heads here than the N.E.R.D. x Common show I hit up like 5 days ago. Wanna know more? Hit the jump…

Since we arrived later than we should have and Atmos has an insane following we we’re forced to get a side view instead of the right smack in the front/middle norm. So the show starts with Atmos performing ____ (see I’m already forgetting). I do know they proceeded to run through a slew of records from their extensive discography. From Lemons‘ (You, Yesterday, The Waitress, etc), YCIHMFWH (Pour Me Another, Little Man, etc), GodLovesUgly (GodLovesUgly, Lovelife, Shrapnel, etc), Lucy Ford (Like Today, Don’t Ever Fuckin’ Question That, Woman w/ the Tattooed Hands, etc) and even rocked some Sad Clown (The Rooster, Not Another Day, etc). I didn’t get any footage as I left my Flip Mino in my man’s truck after a night at Red Martini earlier this week; which led to a Twitter update that looked like following…

The set finishes and they leave only to come out for an encore performance (like usual) and go through some of my personal favorite Atmos records (Trying to Find a Balance, Always Coming Back Home to You, Sunshine, etc). And trust me when I say this… I haven’t seen a crowd react like they did when Trying to Find a Balance came on. It was ridiculous! I’m talking he had EVERY one in the entire building waving their hands from front to back. And for good reason, the song is nasty! Right before the show is over some dueshe back (sitting right in front of us mind you) throws a cup in the crowd. And in typical Sluggo fashion, he stops the music and calls dude out. Oh so you’re the cool guy who throws shit? Does it feel good? Which had the kid getting all hyper and saying yeaaaa while throwing another cup. Smh. Security comes and yanks him and another kid that was next to him and proceed to drag them out. Slug makes sure it was only the “striped shirt” that got taken out and the other should stay. I’m personally thankful as it enticed Slug to bring out Abstract Rude & Blueprint for a dope little freestyle session. Great show!

Tired of reading yet? I’ve got more. While we’re chilling, waiting for the crowd to move we run into Blueprint. He recognizes my lady (as they have some running ass-grabbing joke or something) and he tells us to come by the merch table upstairs for some chit chat, etc. While we’re waiting for the buying fans to dissapear Shake got a flick with ANT…

Blueprint finishes up and we just stand around chopping it up while girls with no wristbands (aka underage) and MySpace stalkers approach him constantly. Finally they leave and we decide to hit up Burger Bar for some greaaaat food (good call Narada!). And there you have it… a dope Atmosphere show, a great convo with ‘Print over some Black Angus burgers and Coronas then a nice drive home… Until next time.

It’s been too damn long since I’ve heard some Blueprint. His release three years ago, 1988, was dope! He recently hit us up at DX to release his new EP for free online (CD version available online which includes instrumentals). Print puts his vocals over beats he made using the Funkadelic’s discography. Word!

I started making beats out of as much of their music as I could and putting lyrics to them; some stuff i wrote on the spot, other stuff was ideas that I had played with before but never finished. I had the record pretty much done for a couple of years but I felt like I didn’t have any audio of them speaking that really explained what they were about, so I put it on hold until I could find some interviews.
