Still browsing the internets while wanting sleep to hit me I hit up The Exactly and noticed that PacDiv just got a phone with Kyte technology. Even though I don’t care too much for the player itself, it’s dope that they can update straight from their phone so we’re blessed with some cool insight to the lives of a few dope rappers. I’ve been staying away from this whole situation as much as I could. There’s more than a handful of DJs that have responded to Wayne about his remarks, but whatever. This is Skillz though haha, so I had to put you on to his thoughts via his OKP blog.

Iiight so fuck the dj? For real? Wow! First lemme say I dont get alot of radio/club play, sometimes my record dont apply & I can understand that but I dont care if I had no spins on my record I would never say fuck a dj. No DJ at all, I wouldnt say fuck a DJ that I dont know!! lol It just baffles me how the hottest artist out right now can say Fuck the dj’s!! Where would he be without the DJ tho? Real talk, I hear his records and its always a dj playing it. Be it on the radio, in the club or on a cd. If you hot then DJ’s gon fuck with you but they are part of the reason you hot, its a tag team kinda combo. You rap on everyone’s song (whether they want you to or not) you jump on cats tracks and send em out to the world, wouldn’t you want someone to think its hot enuf to play? So then I heard him on Drama and he said ” Fuck them dj’s”! Niggas takin my music and puttin out CD’s that aint official. Nigga? You rapped on 70 songs that wasn’t official! Alot of these DJ’s are branding you. They making you hot!

Just got done packing up the left over shirts, mixtapes, etc and getting ready to head out to ship them and I hop on my laptop for one second and check an IM from the rawg pointing to the above list. Which is basically put together by a team to measure urban blogs by their BPI rating (commissioned by over ten major online companies for blog research and with that they have extended their traffic, networking and links data much further than Alexa, Compete, Technorati or Digg measurements). Shake: That’s right folks, in 6 short months Shake and Meka have surpassed 1million views. We actually did last week and planned to do something special for ya’ll. We were gonna compile a mix of about 16 of our all time favorite joints (no genre restrictions) but since the life of a dopeboy can get crazy hectic, we’ve been way too busy to do so. I’m sure we’ll do it for the hell of it later on. We’ll see. I personally wanna thank all the dopeboyz and dopegirlz out there that continue to support us. From the crazy comments to the enjoyable emails (most of the time haha). Here’s to 2million. Meka, what’cha got to say?

As everyone should already know, the verdict came in for the Sean Bell case a few days ago. Two men wounded, one man dead and three innocent police let off the hook. I never spoke on my thoughts because there’s not much else to say that hasn’t already been done. Numerous blogs to songs have surfaced since the not guilty verdict was announced. While I think it’s needed, as each artist can have a different set of fans and the message will reach a broader audience. I’m saddened though as I feel that some artists will just use the injustice as a stepping stone for their “buzz”. I know a lot of artists are sincere but I also feel there are some that aren’t. This goes for politicians and people with a status higher than the average civilian. I won’t name names though, that’s not my place.

I hope after the songs and after the rants on blogs (mine included) that more will be done. I understand people’s pain and anger and hope it doesn’t result in violence towards police or anyone. I’d rather see progress in fixing this. I have no solutions but there is more than songs & write ups that can be done! I know awareness is key, so I’m working with my man Narada on a tee shirt in memory of Sean Bell, Timothy Stansbury, Patrick Dorismond and Amadou Diallo. If you aren’t familiar with any of these names, I suggest you put wiki to use. I don’t have intentions on selling them, but shipping might be asked from anyone who wants them (I’ll post pictures when we get them printed). Things like this may be trivial to some, but the smallest thing can spark curiosity in someone who in turn will talk to another, so on and so on. So I ask that people don’t stay quiet on this matter. Please speak up and announce your thoughts.
