I think Drake is a great artist SFG is perfect to me a classic the first two are also amazing but I think he stops being what people wanted him to be on SFG almost everything after So Far Gone is more the “same old same old” rapper, partying and getting money. Yet he has Fear which he started at the time So Far Gone was being made but finish a few months ago. I’ll say I hope he stay humble and stays “Mixtape Drake” like his friend and peer, Wayne.

Damn this really reminds me of how refreshing Drake was before he became Birdman III
Room For Improvement and Comeback Season were beyond nice, but So Far Gone is what made Drake for me. So Far Gone showed me his diversity not as a rapper, but an artist.
Mean to add: The Drake that came after So Far Gone is what kind of draws me away from him… I see the ‘haters’ saying that he sounds the same on every track, his flow, his subject matter is always the same and I can’t disagree. So, yeah..I hope for a return to the Room For Improvemnt, Comeback Season Drake added in with a pinch of So Far Gone Drake on Thank Me Later.

Then he dropped Comeback Season and i was like this dude is nice! then so far gone and i was still rockin with Drake. then it seemed like once he got a taste of money he immediately sold out. now im like what the f*ck?? this dont even sound like the same cat. i’ll still be copin the album when it drops tho, i’m sure he’ll deliver… i hope

Because Drake will be successful forever, if he keeps up his pace. I mean who has more Swag then Drizzle Drake? I mean no body. Actually when you think about it, Young Money has the most Swagg out of anyone in the rap game. I would put Drake Weezy F Baby, Nikki Manji and Tyga up against Slaughterhouse anyday. I mean, Weezy F. Baby alone is like the best rapper right now! And Drake’s swagger ratings are through the roof right now, it is practically dysgusting! LuLz.
Drake has better lyrics then everyone else in the game. I mean his word play is like top notch. I still think it is messed up that what the police are doing to Weezy F Baby. I mean. He shouldnt have to serve any time.
I’m one of the biggest Drake fans out there, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t want him to get back on this “Room For Improvement” ish. That’s arguably my favorite mixtape from dude…so I think “Comeback Season” holds equal standing.
I really hope “Thank Me Later” is more RFI & CS Drake . I could take a little So Far Gone Drake too. I know this may sound dumb, but to me, SO FAR GONE Drake and Young Money Drake aren’t the same either. His solo records (and even the one’s with Wayne) were fire on the mixtape. It’s those other Young Money tracks he be on that be wack (though his verses still be ill). I think in his mind, he knows what he’s doing though. He controls what will be on HIS project. I think his debut will be devoid of any YM member except for ONE crew cut or maybe a collab with Wayne and a collab with Nicki Minaj. The rest will be some classic solo ish.

What happened to the Drake that worked with Little Brother and Nickelus F? Or ‘The Last Hope’ Drake. Or the Drake who could blow your effin mind with a line that would’ve taken another rapper their whole life to think of? Dude is still nice, and I haven’t lost all hope, but I had to do some serious diggin’ through my library to make a Drake mix that would help restore my faith. The last couple of semi recent Drake songs that have really got my attention were The Search and Killers.

Drake is not wack at all to me, but his RFI/CS stuff is what made me think dude was seriously a problem. I enjoyed SFG, it was nice, but I really was expecting Comeback Season type stuff. His Young Money verses have been ok, I havent heard any really YM stuff expect for Bedrock/Every Girl and I cant judge his YM stuff from that. I just hope on Thank Me Later, the Comeback Season Drake shows up, with maybe 2 or 3 SFG type tracks. And if any young money dudes get a verse, let it be Tyga, Minaj, or Wayne.
Before people say Im hating on YM, I personally enjoy all their artist music, but those 3 I named are the ones who are capable of not ruining a Drake song, and Id love to see Tyga and Drake go bar for bar, cause I think Tyga is the best in Young Money.

There’s nothing wrong with Drake imo. I’m not on the, ‘he sold out’ bandwagon yet. I still think people have automatically assumed he’s going to suck because of who he signed with, which is foolish. He’s gone on to say he has complete control of his album and its creative process (which I hope is true). Lets chill with the assumptions for a second until he actually puts out the album.
I must be the only one, but I really thought SFG was his best mixtape. I agree Drake was probably a little more lyrically proficient on his previous two, but he was never really a beast on tracks in the first place. SFG utilized all his skills (rapping, singing, utilizing unique production) and they were organized in a really clever and listenable way. IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT BEASTIN’ ON A TRACK!!! IT’S ABOUT CRAFTING GOOD SONGS. SFG definitely is his most complete project to date, and you fuckers need to realize that.
We arent saying SFG wasnt dope, its dope. But Drake is a rapper first, singer second. We want the hungry Drake we had, not that I made it Drake. you feel me?

Drake is an ARTIST. That is what he has evolved into. He is skilled enough to rap and sing and it would be wrong for him to not use all his abilities in his songs. I don’t see these complaints when it comes to Phonte of Little Brother who is a great singer as well as rapper.
I remember when CBS dropped and everyone was surprised with how well he sang on one interlude track and EVERYONE was saying he should sing more. Next mixtape he sings and now all of a sudden he sings too much and it’s ‘rapper first, singer second.’ Ya’ll won’t ever be satisfied. You will ALWAYS have something to nitpick at him for.
You don’t think SFG WASN’T hungry Drake? He didn’t blow up until after everyone realized how great SFG was. ‘Hungry’ is just another word for ‘lyrical’ 90% of the time. You hear that with every rap artist that blows up. ‘That nigga fallin’ off, he ain’t hungry no more,’ or ‘He needs to go back to his first album when he was hungry.’ They been sayin’ that about Jay-Z FOREVER and it hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of the greats.
If it’s because you don’t think he was rapping with energy, that wasn’t really the vibe of the mixtape in the first place. Go and look at interviews of Drake when he’s explaining SFG if you don’t get it.
