Lil Wayne Talks No Ceilings Mixtape (Video)

MTV just put up a clip that was recorded a few days before the official version of Lil Wayne’s latest mixtape hit the internet. And I’ve gotta ask… now with a few days of listening, where do ya’ll rank No Celiings in comparison to his previous mixtapes?

  1. dedication 2 > no ceilings > drought 3

  2. it’s def not as hard as drought 3..i was really disappointed with some of the callabs he did…that song ‘calling me daddy’ really brought down the value of the tape….

  3. Carter 3: Sessions
    Drought 3
    No Ceilings
    Dedication 2

    all 8/10 and better tho

  4. not as good as dedication 1 or 2, drought 3, carter 3 sessions, carter 2 was better to. imo i dont understand the hype around this tape. its at best borderline average/good to me.

  5. there really wasn’t that much hype was it? he said he was putting it out, and 2 weeks later it was here. Still Dedication 2 was da shit, and tops the list.

  6. My only complaint with No Ceilings was the beat selection…I really thought he woulda chose better shit. oh well.

    its an 8/10 for me.
    D1/D2/Drought 3 > No Ceilings > Dedication 3.

and Im a big Wayne fan. my favorite rapper since 04.

where do you rank it shake??

  7. All I can say is that it was light years beyond Dedication 3 but not better than Drought 3 and Dedication 2. He went back in the right direction with this one though. Maybe if he drops a No Ceilings 2 or even a 3rd then maybe it’ll be up there with Dedication 2 and Drought 3 or better. It could have done without that Calling Me Daddy shit. Hook was annoying as all fucking hell. As well as without some of those features. It’s a shame they lied about that saying there wasn’t features and it ended up being features then they lied about autotune. At least 5 songs, probably more, I heard had melodies for certain words but thank God it wasn’t for a full verse, a hook, or the full song. I just hope that when December 15th comes, Wayne will do this again with Carter 4 and make Carter 3 look like shit.

  8. Yall cant put carter 3 sessions on there it wasn’t an official tape. I bet some of yall that put that on there say Carter 3 is shit, well thank DJ Empire for the weaker C3 you may have bought yall would have gotten Carer 3 session instead if he didn’t leak it.

  9. Fuck mtv.

  10. Cant forget prefix, suffix, Lil Weezy Ana Vol. 1, and the original dedication

  11. Carter IV aint releasing this year.
December 15th is the We Are Young Money/Rebirth albums.

I think he has another mixtape coming out.

  12. Lil Weezy Ana>Dedication 2>Carter 3 sessions>Drought 3>Tha Suffix>No ceilings>dedication 3

  13. Wayne did his thing on this tape! Idk what more yall want from the man. He puts out more music than anybody, but still ppl want to complain abt it not being as good as his previous joints. It was a quality tape that most of u r gonna b bumpin till sum new Wayne drops

  14. both dedication 1 & 2 & drought 3 are wayyyyyyyy better than no ceilings. i agree with this tape he is moving in the right direction

  15. Dedication 2> Drought 3

  16. @jsfordays
    lilweezyana was aiiiight.
it was kinda hard to listen cuz raj smoove took the whole dj/screamin all over a track to another level.

  17. i cant believe someone in the world thinks no ceilings is better than da drought 3 the best mixtape of all time

  18. No Ceilings was good but IMO I Cant Feel My Face had some of the most raw wayne mixtape songs…

Dedication 2 was probably his best mixtape, but I Cant Feel My Face, and Drought 3 were up there towards the top..I also really liked SQ 4 which hardly anyone listens to from wayne…

People talking about carter 3 sessions like that shit was official LMAO and people claim to be fans…how is I Cant Feel My Face not even mentioned hardly??? SMH

No Ceilings was nice but it wasnt better then those, but it was better then Drought 1 and 2, The Prefix, and some of the Sqad up mixtapes…

  19. Wayne has a lot of superficial fans…

And one more thing…Bil lon is on point!

There were so many C3 possible tracks that leaked that made for a weaker actual Carter 3…Kush, I Know the Future, Ima beast, Im Me (fucking classic!), etc…think about all those leaked songs that could have been on c3…fuck the empire and bullshit mixtapes

  20. it’s wack

  21. @ Jaywall

Carter 4 is dropping December 15th as well dude. Rebirth and the Young Money album is gonna be a double disc package. It was announced by Birdman with MTV the same week Wayne pleaded guilty to the gun charge.

  22. ^^It’s definitely not wack…damn

  23. ^^Actually no its not dropping on December 15th…Wayne came out after Birdshit said that and said the label wants him to do that but instead Wayne is putting out a young money all star disc with Rebirth in December…

  24. @ TheMastermind

Don’t forget about the Carter 3 10 track mixtape that came out summer 2006. That had my favorite on there. Boom Boom Rap, Boom Boom Bap, or whatever the fuck it was called lol. I think it was the 4th track on it. And it had Mr. Postman on it too.

  25. @ TheMastermind

Yes it is, look it up. I know what you’re talking about though. That was with another site and Wayne came out and said that Carter 4 needed to be Carter 4 then like a week or 2 later whenever that guilty plea was is the same week that Birdman turned around and said Carter 4 would drop the same day with the Rebirth and Young Money double disc package.

  26. http://www.mtv.co.uk/artists/birdman/news/160018-lil-wayne-two-new-albums-in-2009

There’s the link to it but my mistake about Young Money. Looks like that won’t be dropping this year. My bad.

  27. i hope for Dec15th Carter 4…he DID just drop a mixtape..thats always a good sign of an album to come…

  28. I seriously doubt Carter 4 is coming out this year, they would have dropped a single for it, and except for Birdshits mindless ramblings, there’s been no mention of the album coming out this year

  29. Dedication 2 Best Mix Tape Weezy

  30. @ Dangerous Vortex

Wayne just said the other night on Twists ustream that Young Money and Rebirth are coming out double disc on the 15th, he never mentioned anything about Carter IV

  31. i love the mixtape i dont compare shit to often but it was some bangers on no ceilings just enjoy the new wayne cause jayz aint puttin out a mixtape lol

  32. No ceilings is piff. but he needs to keep bringin this kinda heat or else he’s gonna slowly dissappear as drake gets bigger

  33. artist: lil wayne
    representing: new orleans

huh? how can you rep a city when you dont even live there?

mtv + lil wayne = FAIL

  34. I thought it was dope. To keep coming up with the things he’s come up with while having made so many songs is crazy.

  35. hes good and all but if the word “like” wasnt in the dictionary, he would have no lyrics at all. he is straight similes, cool at first, annoying later

  36. @ Wu-Tang Is For The Children

All cause he didn’t mention Carter 4 don’t mean it’s not coming. He would have said something like he came out the 1st time when Birdman said the plans to Rap Up magazine 3 or 4 weeks ago. And all cause he hasn’t dropped a single yet doesn’t mean it won’t come out. He just dropped a mixtape to build hype again. Em pulled that shit earlier this year promoting his album for like a month and sold very well considering his 4 1/2 hiatus. Maybe Wayne will drop 2 singles at 1 time. It makes sense for him to go ahead and drop it soon cause Carter 3 took 1 1/2 to 2 years to finally come out and ended up being horrible. He needs to do it before the DJs do again. Plus it makes more sense cause it will possibly boost sales of the double disc package and have people buy whatever else is dropping that day like Lasers, Graffiti, and I would say The World’s Enemy but that got pushed back a week.

  37. 4 1/2 year hiatus*

  38. @Dangerous Vortex

Maybe you’re right, but it just doesn’t make sense that they would release the double disc and Carter IV on the same day

  39. Carter IV is next year kiddos, Young Money/Rebirth is on Dec 14th. Do you know how much promotion Wayne is gonna do for Carter 4. Thats comin out way next year. Drake at the top of the year, then wayne comin. Be smart guys

  40. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It can’t come out way next year because Wayne is gonna be living in a jail cell next year

  41. Let me start off by saying these are the top 10 mixtapes weezy has done that are the best, strictly in my own opinion. Does anybody else agree?
    (1) Dedication (Gangsta Grillz)
    (2) Blow: The ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ Prequel
    (3) The Drought 3
    (4) Dedication 2 (Gangsta Grillz)
    (5) Lil Weezy Ana Vol. 1
    (6) No Ceilings
    (7) Dedication 3 (Gangsta Grillz)
    (8) The Drought Is Over Pt. 6 (The Reincarnation)
    (9) The Drought Is Over Pt. 4
    (10) New Orleans Nightmare Pt. 10

  42. ^i think no ceilings is better than lil weezyana.

  43. are u kiddin shyguy? wayne kills david banner off of weezy ana because that shit was back in the day, that real shit man. not this new shit hes on now, even though he can still rapper like a muthafucka for sure. u must not know boy, david banner a damn classic. money in the bank?, off the docks?, grew up a screw up?, nigga wit money? basically the whole tape. shit dude what u talkin bout!

  44. Official Tapes Wise, I’d Say:

    1. Drought 3

    2. No Ceilings

    3. Dedication 2

    4. Dedication 3

    The rest are pretty irrelevant.

  45. By irrelevant I mean they’re from back when he sounded like a high-pitched bitch.

  46. Dedication 2 > No Ceilings > Da Drought 3 > Dedication 3.

  47. i agree. he was dope on that tape. im comparing overall. wayne delivers on probly all the tracks on no ceiling. on some track off LWA hes just talkin ex: i think its ’secret weapon’ i dont remember. plus raj smoove took away from me being able to enjoy the tape to its fullest cuz his tags were so loud and he put them in when u least expected it. dnt get me wrong, LWA was fire, but the some of the artists featured were kinda wack ex: shawty lo ‘im the man’

  48. No Ceilings is a lot better than D3 but its not close to as good as any other official tape he’s dropped in the last 4 years…maybe its better than The Suffix but cmon lets be real ppl…

  49. LOL AT THESE JADED ASS NIGAS. STOP LOOKING AT THE PAST. THIS IS THE HOTTEST SHIT OUT NOW. SMH.

ALL IGNORANT NIGAS JUST WANT ARTISTS TO STAY FROZEN IN TIME. THATS NOT REALITY, SMFH.

  50. i think ppl are just over-hyped that Wayne was goin back to the “Old Weezy” and want him to so bad that their puttin this tape on a pedestal it doesnt deserve to be on….its cool and all and he killed sum beats on there but tell me if anyone of those songs r near 2 as great as what he did on traks like Georgia, Upgrade, Dipset 1&2, Cannon, and basically the whole DD3

  51. now dnt get me wrong.
i aint sayin NC was his best shit ever. i think LWA was dope but im just sayin that due to the features and dj tags (most of the time ireally dont give a fuck bout tags. its just raj smoove took that shit too far) on LWA, NC was a bit more enjoyable imo

  52. its not that im jaded son i just hate this mainstream bullshit thats currupting the music industry and basically the whole world. but thats a different topic that i wont go into. the only things i can say that ive liked about some of the mainstream stuff they got out now is jayz’s blueprint 3 is on the radio, by the way fuck the radio playing all this club music, and clipse new shit they got out and coming out, and yo gotti’s shit hes got out now, and thats it!. other than that fuck all that ignorant shit they got out. all people want is a good beat and some annoying hook and someone who cant rhyme worth a damn. fuck man if you cant see this you cant call anything “hot” and you need to kill yourself with everyone else. no ceilings though i can say is pretty good and not the mainstream shit. its like weezy took mainstream beats and turned them into good rhymes, which i respect from the niga. Capeesh?

  53. Another weak mixtape.. not worth a listen.

  54. ^^^^^^co-mufuckin-sign

  55. @b1rdm……..

  56. being that the Drought 3 still gets play on my mp3 device..that has to be #1…..No Ceilings is mos def. a good start for the man to get back to where he was…….

    but being honest….
it’s still the JEts x Taylor Gang over everything

  57. No ceilings is bullshit. Wayne peaked in 06-07. The carter 3 sessions, even though its unofficial is one of his best tapes. Mainly cause it shoulda been the album. DD3 was flames, but Lilweezyana was my favorite for the incredible wordplay + showcasing young money artists that didn’t suck. (Even Raw Dizzy and Mack Maine were good on it)

… Best wayne mixtape song tho… Knuck if you Buck (freestyle)

  58. correction*, i gotta go with shyguy now, i believe him now, lol
    (1) Dedication (Gangsta Grillz)
    (2) Blow: The ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ Prequel
    (3) The Drought 3
    (4) Dedication 2 (Gangsta Grillz)
    (5) No Ceilings
    (6) Lil Weezy Ana Vol. 1
    (7) Dedication 3 (Gangsta Grillz)
    (8) The Drought Is Over Pt. 6 (The Reincarnation)
    (9) The Drought Is Over Pt. 4
    (10) New Orleans Nightmare Pt. 10

  59. Dedication 2 > Suffix > No Ceilings > Drought 3 > Blow: The ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ Prequel > Dedication > LilWeezyAna > Dedication 3

  60. No Ceilings definitely puts Mr. F on top of the mixtape game again.

  61. Wayne is good, but drake is a fake.y’all praising some nigga that grew up being an actor in some bitchass show called degrassi..ha.

  62. the drought is over 2 featuring songs like Zoo feat. Mack Maine and Kush and La La La is still my favorite but those were all supposed to be on the Carter 3

  63. Damn near nobody’s lists are really even close to the same. WTF are people taking into account here? He spazzed on Run This Town, Let’s Do It, D.O.A. and maybe a couple others. Then there were a few pretty dope lines sprinkled throughout the rest of the tape. Everything else was okay. I don’t think he really murdered anything else on there and he didn’t make any other straight bangers either. I think the Suffix is mad underrated too.

  64. 2 of my personal favorite wayne tracks:
    ‘u dont know weezy’ and
    ‘weezy ambitionz’

  65. what are the chances of the drought is over series being leaked NO DJ?? anybody have any links? thats like the holy grail in my opinion…

  66. @ james dean … thats probably word for word what I would have said myself, even to the Jets x Taylor Gang comment. Drought 3 was Weezy’s best, then he got caught up in some terrible music, but this is back to his old style which is Dope. No one can get on someone else beat and just murder it better the Wayne. Ice Cream Paint Job and Banned From TV are the best songs : “Smoke weed, talk shit like Lane Kiffin” LOL.

  67. I definitely enjoyed No Ceilings a million times more than Dedication 3, but I think Drought Is Over pt.6 edges it out just a bit as far as recent Wayne mixtapes are concerned. Overall, I’d give it a B, but I’m cutting Wayne some slack by completely disregarding “I Got No Ceilings”. Not that he rapped poorly on it, but the beat and hook are so fucking awful that anyone’s gonna sound lame rapping over it.
    1)DJ Ideal: Greatest Rapper Alive
    2)Drought 3
    3)Lil Weezy Ana
4)Tapemasters Inc: Young Money Millionaires Vol 4
    5)Drought Is Over pt.6
    6)Dedication 2
    7)No Ceilings

  68. if he spent more time working on how flow and lyrical content instead of how much money he has and how he’s “the best rapper alive” (which he clearly isn’t) maybe this one would have been good.
    i give it a 6.5/10

  69. Suffix is so under rated prefix with that moment of clairity freestyle showed us how close he was to jay. it’s hard to say which one is his best and put the mixtapes(both official and unofficial) in order. all i know is wayne is the mixtape king and had the best(and most) one liners since about 2004. even with the rock shit the one liners continue. jay z maybe more lyrical but weezy’s delivery is too raw. only eminem has a delivery as him(obviously im talking alive, biggie and pac had the rawness too)

  70. swag surfng, run this town, DOA, wasted, banned from tv, ice cream were murdered, the rest were average. remember that drought 3 was a double disk and 90 percent of those beats were murdered!!!

  71. drought 3>dedication 2>drought is over 2>no ceilings>blow>suffix>drought is over 4…those only ones im real big on…i do agree all are 8/10 and above…wayne is back on his grizzy

  72. Drought 3>Dedication 2>No Ceilings(I like this tape)>Every other tape.

  73. Yo like This on my top ten of waynes (OFFICIAL) mixtapes. most of the tapes that were listed above were unofficial tapes(Mixes of old and new songs).
    1.Dedication 2( u don’t know weezy+weezy’s ambitionz is on here)
    2.Drought is over 2(carter 3 sessions
    3.SQ6(waynes personal favorite)
    4.Da Drought 3
    5.Can’t feel my face(all prequels)
    6.Leak V
    7.Young Millionaires Vol. 4
    8.Drought is over 6
    9.SQ1
    10.No Ceilings
No Diss, I am no critic, but it’s like he was hungrier around the carter’s time, I’m surprised no one acknowledged the sqad shit, like his 10,000 bars shit, his ready or not shit? he can get much more beastier, but now I see he likes to brag a whole lot more.
