“I was really mad about it… The freestyle was like a slap in the face, you just wanted to charge me X amount of dollars for a remix.. then you turn around and take the beat [for free.] It was almost like gloating, showboating… so I said you know what, he didn’t want to do the remix, I’m taking my beat back.”
So apparently Joe asked Jay to do the official remix to “Pump It Up,” but Jay charged an exorbitant price for a verse, before freestyling on the beat anyways on that Reebok mixtape. Another interesting note (though I’m sure some people may already know of this): Beanie Sigel, Freeway and Jay passed up that beat first.
Hip Hop, Video

well from my perspective,
that seems like a bitch move by jay.
but i dont know the details or the full story so im probly wrong.
If Jay Wouldive touched it..
It wouldive changed his career
Both Gay-Z and Hoe Budden
I’m not takin sides or no shit like that cause I like both artists, but that’s a little fucked up on Jay’s part…
fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk jayz hahah i always hated that ignorant fuck
slaugherhouse should rip that overrated faggot apart
when faggets like jayz was coming up tupac was clowing those fuckin kids and they didnt say shit he exposed these hoes and now in 2009 they all act tuff and act like pac never dissed the shit out of them
that jay freestyle was fuckin ill though..
really instead of getting offended by the freestyle Joe should have got his studio engineer on it, did a new verse and put it out like it was a remix just for promo…. ie free remix…wtf…Joey is so emmotional…
troublemaker, Joey did hop on the back of song, hence, the reason most felt they had a “beef”….joey explaining this makes a lot of sense to me now…i wonder what Jay’s perspective would be, but he would never address it…

Joe’s 2nd time on the track was AMAZING. I always thought he bodied Hov on that track. All those NBA references about old guys and young guys was crazy.
That’s the only time besides Ether that I thought Hov lost. Funny how that was the Last Budden song I liked too
This rap business ain’t friends. It’s about staying on top, securing the money for ya self. Sadly, Budden has learned the hard way.
forget my comment up there.. i meant to say that joe buddens verse was fuckin ill. that jordan line bout jays legacy gettin ruined killed it. and you aint no athlete you shawn bradley LOL.
Jayz is a fukin bitch dat nigga cant rap no mo. his shit is wak as fuk. Joe Budden is dope nd he can lyrically murder jayz in 2 second like wen he heard da just blaze beat
preach @ james

Its ya Boi said this on October 26th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
^co-sign
Jay is one shady dude.. he felt threatened by Joe and had the power to hinder his career & did just that.. why u think he was pushin rnb acts like Rihanna & Ne-Yo and less kanye’s ?
^^^ mmkayy
that’s kinda how I feel, but I dont wanna condemn no one until I hear both sides ya know?
But yeah it’s kinda messed up and not a good look for hip hop overall.
Joe’s verse wouldav had more umph if he wouldnt have backtracked at the end
Jay is not obligated to jump on every track he’s offered. If Buddens had wanted him, he woulda ponied up that loot. Dont expect favors just cuz you (were) down with Clue.
Also Buddens kinda sounded like a Jay-Z clone back then before he developed his own personality and mic presence. Which probably didnt help since we wasnt on the ROC. If he had played his position instead of being salty he might be in the same position as Fab today w/ an official co-sign.
It would have been cool had he made this statement in 2003. He was asked the questions but he bitched up. Now it’s just IRRELEVANT. That explains the animosity in Buddens verse though. The remix is still dope though.
So since he lost to Wu-Tang he has to redeem himself by bringing up old news. Everybody knows that Jay is a foul business man, but this is just sad.
how much did that bitch nigga want, and links to the frestyles
I didn’t know Beans, Free, and Jay we’re supposed to use the Pump It Up Beat tho… just imagining that record now makes it seem like that joint coulda been crazy.
gizmo youre a fucking moron this was a clip taken from a stream where someone asked him that. no1 is bringing up old shit on purpose.
Duke,
are you serious here? Do you really think that Joe Buddens is better the J-Hova?
Shall we compare?
We can break down albums side by side – Landslide to Jay
We can break down careers – Landslide to Jay
We can break down relevance in hip hop – Landslide to Jay
We can break down lyrics – Landslide to Jay
We can break down beats – Up land slide for Jay
We can break down chicks – Land Slide to Jay

Nuff Said….Buddenstans are dumb

Damn, ill get your dad pregnant you homo, just shut your motherfucking cum filled ass up before i crack your cranium with my bare hands.
O yeah before i forget, yo momma is so fat if i was in her face id have to take the bus too see her ass
Copy paste if you hate robbie da bitch
That stream was dope. He went through the whole history of that Pump It Up beat. I agree that Budden (no S) hurt Jay when he came back on that beat. From then on, Jay didn’t fuck with Joey. I gotta say thank you though cuz if he did, there might not have been Slaughterhouse or any Mood Musiks.
Joey baited Joe Camel and his grimey ass and Joey came out on top on this one. He asked Jay to be on the beat, Jay said no. Jay jacks the beat. Joey comes back and “rejacks” the beat and outdoes Jay on it. Now, Jay is backed into a corner. Win win for Joey. Either Jay comes back and answers to Joey which will give Joey notoriety, or he doesn’t say anything to avoid giving Joey steams. Smart play by Joey. This shit is chess, not checkers.
edit: *STEAM
The whole Roc says no to the beat. Joe hears it and blazes the shit and asks you to participate in a remix which you slyly say no to but get on the track anyway after the fact because you realize you slipped on the beat !! Fucked up.
