Just because Curtis is rocking with Ne-Yo on the single doesn’t mean he’s abandoned a street edge for his upcoming album Before I Self Destruct (November 23rd). Or so he says…
“Not particularly this song, but the entire project … I meant for it to be a little harder and what I fell in love with about hip-hop and within hip-hop,” Fif said on the song’s video set Saturday. “I accomplished it. Before I Self Destruct is absolutely harder than Get Rich or Die Tryin’ or other projects in between. The Massacre had some real aggressive content on it, but there were other things I wanted to do, like ‘Ryder Music,’ ‘Baltimore Love Thing,’ ‘Build You Up,’ featuring Jamie Foxx. This project [Before I Self Destruct], I kept all of those things out of it. I just made it what I wanted it to be. This album is my album right now. It’s like the prequel to Get Rich — the things I missed on that project.”
As much as I’d like to hope this is true as I still give GRODT continuous spins. I’m not believing shit until I hear the actual music.

Man, I damn sure hope so. I miss that 50 era when he was runnin’ shit.
no shit hes going to say this. he’s been saying that every album since.
Is that why that wack ass “Baby by me” track is on there!, GTFOH.
Liar Liar, pants on fire!
ha. how can a Neyo track be harder than ANY track on Get Rich?
Alicia Keys’ Album will be grittier than this shyt.
* waits on tracklist *
We all know this man is lying.
more like Curtis reloaded..
If 50 could put all the songs that were intended for GRODT on BISD niggaz still will be hatin…
You cant please everybody….
You win some and you lose some…..
Even if he aint lying, which he is, the “hard tracks” he makes sound so forced these days. This man is rich and rappin about robbing people. A celebrity rappin about doing a drive by. I loved GRODT and the Massacre but that shit is long gone. Hopefully im wrong.
50 always trys to make it seem deeper than it actually is
50 is so fucking fake. See what money does??? The fuck outta here 50. If it’s a prequel to GRODT then Da Realest by Plies was the hottest shit to come out last year. Every song I’ve heard from BISD is wack.
wheres the TRACKLIST fifty?
you dudes always have something wack to say about him but in all honest he is every element in hip hop and that’s if follow it since the early 80’s.
@ jinesis
Damn, that’s fucked up how you talk about yourself like that. Your comment was really wack. 50 is every element in hiphop??? That’s bullshit. Dude has gotten worse every album after GRODT. He has weak vocab, weak wordplay, a 2 verse pussy, and talks about the same shit in different ways. Insted of evolving he’s been dissolving.
you guys are haters….you hate on him for bein rich??…when he raps about bein rich you say thats played out…when he raps about guns and shit you say how can he rap about that when hes rich……hows the man supposed to win?…honestly if the massacre was 50s first cd we would say its one of the greatest the same way we say grodt is…he just set the bar too high for himself…50s still got it IMO
@ georgeburns
No need for double standards. Hater is an irrelevant word. Insted of glorifying 50, how about talking about the word hater you just used. Why can’t someone be honest without being called a hater??? When you call someone a hater cause they’re being honest, you’re calling yourself a dick rider at the same time which is a double standard adding to the fact by saying he’s still got it when he clearly doesn’t. Like I said in an earlier post, he isn’t evolving, he’s dissolving aka self destructing.
but if i disagree and think that hes not dissolving then i feel like im being honest about saying that hes still got it…this could go back and forth all day
to each his own my friend…
all i was saying was that your hating if you put him in a lose-lose situation where no matter what he raps about yall say hes supposed to be rappin about the opposite
Ok, so by that logic then 50 can only rap about money and robbing/shooting people. There’s so much else to rap about. 50 is stuck in a box. Back when he was making hard music, he wasn’t always talking in first person. “If Dead Men Could Talk” is still one of my favourite songs from 50 (off God’s Plan). How come he can’t make hard music where he talks about shit outside of what he himself has done?
If he can’t do this, then he’s devolving (dissolving is not the right word).
its just sad 50 has to keep going back to GRODT. His first CD is still the pinnacle of his career. He doesn’t really have the opportunity to grow or change at all because no matter what he does everyone just says “Well, it’s nothing like GROTD” and then hate on him for trying to keep the moment attributed to his first album. It’s just a sad case overall when you think about it.
I love when ppl defend rappers’ money, so amusing.
@ anonymous
It is sad. There’s other things he could talk about but he chooses to rap about the same shit and he’s burnt out. When people say he needs to go back to GRODT, not literally cause that gangster shit old. GRODT was his best album by far. So much potential. 1 song, 21 Questions, he has NEVER made anything close to that or better. That just proves he ain’t got it anymore. Once he made his money he said fuck his fans.
