Ghostface Killah Blames Rza for Bulletproof Wallets Mix Up (Video)

During an interview with XXL, GFK reveals why The Sun (the famed collaboration between him, Slick Rick & Raekwon) was not included on 2001’s Bulletproof Wallets.

According to Tony, the song would have been included on the disc, but Rza misplaced the record that he sampled to create the beat. “Rza got high and couldn’t find the fucking loop,” Ghost explained to XXL. “He couldn’t find where he got the sample from. That’s why it wasn’t on there.”

As die-hard Wu-Tang fans already know, “The Sun” wasn’t the only track that didn’t make Bulletproof’s final cut. “The Watch”—another classic Starks song that listeners were only able to hear on underground mixtapes—wasn’t added to track listing because Barry White didn’t approve the sampling of his, “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby.” In addition, the original beat for “Flowers,” the collaboration between Ghost, Rae and Method Man on the album, also had to be changed due to sample clearance issues.

If everything would have gone as planned, production issues aside, the Shaolin wordsmith believes the album would have been able to stand up next to his most critically-acclaimed LP, 2000’s Supreme Clientele, as one of his best works.

  1. Fucking with that weed at the wrong time. The Sun and Flowers are bangers too.

  2. i love ghost but come man! thats improper, ghost should start producing so he can do his shit right

  3. Nah 1st off Wallets has plenty of bangers without those cuts. Its still doper than most major label albums that NYC artists have put out this decade.
2nd off true Tony fans have all The Watch, the Sun and Flowers on mixtapes. No big deal!

  4. THAT AINT RZA FAUL!!!! THATS THE INDUSTRY FAULT FOR BULLSHIT SAMPLING LAWS!!!!

HOW ARE 2 LEGEND RAPPERS GONNA LET A COURTROOM AND SAMPLING LAW START BEEF BETWEEN THEM???

SMH : RANDOM ACT OF FUCKERY IS WHAT THIS IS

  5. I have to say it is RZA`s fault. He was high ,he couldn`t find who did the original for clearnce pruposes. The original Flowers was the reason I bought Bulletproof in the first palce. I played the original “12 in mixes,at my club apperances and everyone was buggin`. The reworked one did not have that same knock and feel to it. The Sun was just dope alltogether. I agree with Ghost. It would`ve been just as good,if not better with those tracks.

  6. How come Supreme Clientele is always mentioned as Ghost’s best CD, Ironman is way doper, shit, it’s right next to OBFCL on my list…

  7. Ghost BITTER ASS NIGGA Face neds to stop with these public complaints! Pat ya couchie dry nigga! Grow some balls! Disloyal ass nigga! Evry other day I’m reading or hearing some story about him complaining! What a clown!

  8. And come on… so Ghost is basically saying his album was worthless trash without those 3 songs? Really? 3 songs don’t make a hot album loser.
You should know that… Example: Enter the 36 Chambers, Only Built For Cuban Linx, Enter the 36 Chambers Pt. 2, Tical, Wu-Tang Forever, Liquid Swords etc. etc.
