@Mike Dreams i can co-sign with you 100% percent, being a small-time artist myself it makes me feel proud when you have young talents like Lupe representing. In an era where Hip Hop is predominately a young mans game, most of these radio sensations you hear nowadays wont even last til 2010… With artists like Lupe it gives me a sense that maybe there are people who just have a natural passion for making music. Who can balance the underground and mainstream sound, and make it sound so unique…

Ironically, I was up early this morning listening to “Food & Liquor” and remembering why that album and Lupe Fiasco was and is the most relevant to myself and my generation of hip hop music. People criticize me for having a rapper that was so NEW, but that’s just how it is for me. I’m an artist too, and I felt until “Food & Liquor” came out, I really wasn’t truly inspired to make the music I am now. This album, as well as Kanye’s first two album molded who I am as an artist.

Lkrskb24, I’m right there with you on the “Hurt Me Soul” tip. I think that would have to be in my top 10 hip hop songs of all time.

A lot of people even my age have Nas, Rakim, BIG, PAC or a lot of these guys as their main hip hop cats. I rocks with them, but I think I was more influenced by the artists that were inspired by them and have released music in my teen and young adult years.

Yeah, any Lupe “fan” that doesn’t know that Nas is his favorite rapper isn’t that knowledgeable about Lu.

best Lupe track of all time is “Hurt Me Soul” where he reference’s Nas’s It Was Written..Lupe’s admitted It Was Written is his favorite album of all time and he modeled Food & Liquor after that album
