Substantial – The Memo (Move Me) (prod. Burns)

The Memo (Move Me) is a brutally honest commentary on the state of Hip-Hop music and the lack of substance found in the output from both mainstream and underground scenes. Here Substantial offers his view and encourages artists to take the inspiration that they were given and use it to inspire others regardless of your choice of medium. Burns laces Sub with an airy, mystic like soundscape, which is the perfect canvas for his baritone vocals.

Look for this to appear on the digital-exclusive release of Substantial/Burns on October 20th; which  will feature the likes of Extended F@mm, Kokayi, Steph the Sapphic Songstress and more. Shouts to QN5 (who also has the full version of the artwork).

  1. qn5 ftw

  2. that beat is awkward… beat on top of a beat… if they got rid of the random one it would be really cool. It sounds like too much going on so it’s not going in my ipod.

  3. this beat has me in a trance

  4. same thing i was gona say its got a dope beat if there wasn’t so much going on

  5. The beat does take some getting used to, but after a couple listens it grew on me.

  6. MOVED THE HELL OUTTA ME! That’s one of the most honest tracks Stan has dropped in a minute IMO. Each verse was bam, he was candid as hell. Would be a great song for a live set.

As far as the beat. I thought that shit was ill! If the vocal sample (which makes me think of final fantasy) was a bit cleaner, it would knock a little more but the instrumental alone is fire imo.
