J.Cole was trying to be as polite as possible. Those interviewers were trying to get him to say Drake ain’t shit but Cole kept it clean. I like both artists and will be supporting both of their debuts.

It’s funny how all the bloggers wanna co-sign J. Cole now that Drake is a huge star. If J. Cole blows up and gets a major buzz, you same people would start saying he’s wack and he’s overrated (just like y’all are saying with Drake now). So I guess in order to be loved by bloggers you have to be a not so famous underdog that no one listens too…. smh.

It’s exactly how you describe it. I was never really Into drake when he was more underground and now that he’s famous I still feel the same. Last time I checked the last nigga that was Underground that everybody Liked was Lil wayne then he Went Very Very Famous and LOST ALL OF HIS LYRICAL SKILLS at the meantime. THats why people hate him now. If J.cole gets famous he’ll still be loved by the “bloggers” because his music style wont really change because like he said his music talks about different stuff than drake.
When was Wayne ever underground??? Yea he made a buncha mixtapes but the nigga been mainstream for a minute. But I do agree the bigger of star he became, the worse his music became too. Stardom is a test to staying true to who you are musically and creatively. Not everybody is built for it. Time will tell if Drake and J. Cole are…

J is right on. He SOUNDS really good anc can IMULATE styles of what’s currently popular (Wayne, Kanye, Jay-Z) and mask it enough to call it his own. Im pretty sure Wayne came across many young rappers demos & mixtapes who could rap they ass off but why you think he chose to pick up Drake?
Because he had MASS MARKETING and SUPERSTAR potential…Universal caught wind of this and was smart enough to strike while the iron was hot and before his million dollar check, he had national radio play, MTV starting running a show called DEGRASSI, and Lil Wayne put the icing on the cake by Taking him on the road to perform songs from HIS Mixtape, featured him on exclusive tracks, and then everyone wanted to know who is that light skinned nigga killin’ songs and shows with Wayne?
So far gone appealed to the ladies, which females bring in ticket sales and a stronger fan base. Drake never catered towards a masculine or urban Hip Hop crowd because they don’t buy records or support artist very well. Which all the popular rappers seemed to be doing currently. The drug rap/dance phase seems to be ending and a “Romeo” “Lover Boy” phase seems to be rushing in with Drake. Hope J.Cole can keep it interesting for him to gain attention through all the bullshit.
This whack-ass DJ is clearly sippin’ on some haterade! Why you gotta judge others like that. Don’t knock Drizzy. Kid is doing his thing. Mind ya business. Anybody that speaks about other artists as if they’re a detriment to the game, is clearly jealous. That is the only explanation. I consider myself an avid fan of all hip-hop & R&B, so why haven’t I heard of J. Cole. I’m being completely honest. Someone please tell me what he has accomplished that would make this DJ boost his ego and give him props. Yeah, J. Cole, you don’t have a big buzz, and you never will. I respect how YOU handled the situation professionally and gave props; however, this DJ is clearly itchin for some attention. I guesss they don’t have much to be proud of over on the West Coast because I couldn’t tell you one current artist that’s relevant, respectable, and ligit from the West side.

When he said he doesnt want a buzz he just meant he didnt want the bar set too high. Higher the bar is set the further you have to fall down. An example of that would be Jay Z BP3 if it was a complete failure I dont think Jay could of ever made a come back from that b/c the bar was set sooooo High (too me he didnt meet expectactions but dudes 40 and been a millionaire for years now)
I do think Drake is nice, but I do think he’s overrated. But for people to try and get J. Cole to say something negative that’s fucked up. Just let people make music. Listen to who you like…
