No I.D. Speaks On Hip Hop (Video)

Props to Decatur Dan:

We met up with No I.D. initially to get a video interview for the Making Of D.O.A., after the interview was over we got to talking and we decided to let the cameras just keep rolling. Needless to say you could learn a whole lot from what you are about to watch. No I.D. gives his thoughts on what “cool” really is, what it really means to put your hometown city on your back, and how age has nothing to do with being a relevant hip hop artist. Back like we never left. Shout out to Zach Wolfe of course and Philip Reid for editing all the footage you guys have seen.

  1. Some of the realest shit I’ve heard in a while

  2. Feelin everything he was sayin up until the last part where he got into what artists can and can’t do. I don’t knock Soulja Boy for the dances and shit, cuz like he said, at the end of the day they were doing that back when hip hop was at it’s greatest(imo). I knock Soulja Boy cuz the dude just fucking sucks. No lyrics, just dances and jake ass beats. In my book artists can sing, dance, rap, do joints for the ladies. It’s been proven by many artists already that they can do that and still make great music, but Soulja Boy just doesn’t fit that mold in my opinion. He’s just too garbage. He’s young so he has time to get better as he works on his craft, but as of now, he sucks.

  3. It has nothing to do with age, it has to do with horrible fucking lyrics. BDK had a balance that not many have.

  4. THIS IS REAL TALK

  5. A Knowledge drop at it’s finest. Props No I.D.

  6. True words spoken…….

  7. No I.D. is from the era of labels not being too sure of what was hot or not. The people dictated that by album sales and radio requests. Now labels won’t spend $$$ on you if you don’t have an auto-tune joint, or a dance for your song. But it’s the BLOGS (internets)to the rescue. Quick examples are our recent “freshmen” Drake, Wale, Wiz Khalifah, ect. doing full blown tours off mixtapes with no radio play or majors backing them. So if you are really hot to your fan base that’s what it REALLY is cuz there are no label influences.
