Now, this is actually very disheartening to witness this deplorable back-and-forth that’s been going on between these two for years. Pun’s widow – the same who did a documentary on how such a violent, pistol-whipping wife beater he was a while back – is now saying that her and his children are living in a shelter and are blaming Fat Joe for it. Fat Joe on the other hand is claiming that he’s not making money off Pun (just his rhymebook. Ha!) and that Pun’s widow is essentially lying. I don’t know who’s telling the truth, and frankly I don’t care. This is just a pretty sad display put on by both parties, and in the end the real loser is Pun’s legacy and, more importantly, his children. This is so awful it doesn’t even warrant a RAoF tag, and that’s sad.

I read about this earlier, and like you Meka, I can’t stop thinking about Pun’s children. I can’t really pass judgment on neither one of them, because I understand where they’re both coming from, but I read that she did get around 160k a few years back, and the first thought that came to me was “…that’s it??” I don’t have 160k but even I had doubts that that was enough. But I can say that maybe she should’ve used some of that to invest in…something. I’m sure that money could’ve been flipped somehow, but again I can’t pass judgment because I don’t know the entire story.
As for Joe, I simply don’t understand how he can run around saying that he was Pun’s main man, and not be willing to check on/support his children as they grow up. Same goes for these other rappers that affiliate themselves with Pun. shit is sad.

I agree with JJONES, kids don’t need to suffer they need to enjoy their youth. Mommy needs to go back to school and realize there are places that help families in these types of situations, and she needs to also realize that she shouldn’t just rely on handouts she needs to grow up and work.

I didn’t listen to either and I don’t have to. I see what some of you are saying about “doesn’t she have a job?” It makes sense and she should be working (I don’t know if she is), but everyone here in the workforce knows how hard it is to support yourself let alone several children on the shit wages that many jobs pay – plus, there isn’t a lot of work out there these days.
The fact remains though, that Fat Joe was able to blow up only after introducing Big Pun to the world. Before that, he was known in hip hop circles, but the mainstram had never heard his name. Pun’s talent and charisma (and rhymes) made Joe’s success possible. Fat Joe should see it as his duty to support the children of his friend who led him to platinum status. I know I would.

Not necessarily true ! Joe’s 1st cd went gold which was still a huge acomplishment back in 92-93 plus he was down with DITC. His 1st 2 singles ‘Flow Joe and Watch The sound’ ft. Grand Puba and Diamond D was huge plus he had alot well known features on both. His star might’ve gotten brighter with the introduction of Pun but he had a very nice following otherwise. He was basically the only one out of the DITC camp to Blow up outside the Underground scene.

Shit going platinum as a rapper was out of this world in the ’90’s. Going gold was huge back then! I just don’t get how people play follow the leader after 50 Cent! Fat Joe despite what a lot of followers (which are a lot) Fat Joe is damn near a legend. He was established and respected before Big Pun came into the scene.
He was established before hip-hop did the unthinkable and became one of the dominant genres, where going gold is not respected anymore (by the way that’s stupid because 500,000 copies = possibly 500,000+ fans or more). He is well respected in the Latin community all over and yes he can rap but so many people try to lie to themselves.
