Why Gucci Mane appears on the official album version of this track is beyond me. Attention: Deficit hits shelves on September 22nd. Shouts to RR.

  1. wtf, wale!
    WHY?

  2. he’s joking..right?

  3. Well… I’m just about done paying attention to this album.

  4. Because the D.C audience he’s hoping to win over when his album drops is comprised of teenagers who all like Gucci Mane. This shit is a business, can’t help the irony of it though, coming from a guy who dropped a song called ‘Artistic Integrity’.

  5. why?!

  6. haha. i know half of yall are smh right now

  7. alot of respect has been lost for this dude

any news on when joe buddens ep is droppin or if we outta here is leakin

    sorry for going off topic

  8. like my mans said, Gucci Mane is more popular in DC than Wale will ever be. Deal with that. Deal .

  9. c’mon wale. this is just disappointing.

  10. Down Grade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. wow Wale, you lost a fan. I will not buy your album, I will bootleg it tho

  12. It doesn’t really ruin the song. I bet most of yall ain’t even listen to it

  13. wtf Wale Im tweetin this nigga and sayin wtf were u thinkin with “Pretty Girls”?

  14. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…. why? Damn I hate labels. Tripple-A you’re funny but I’m sure just like Lady GaGa being on the first single I’m sure this had to be a label decision (at least I hope so).

  15. I’m hurt!!!

  16. fuck you wale, fuck you

  17. This shit is a business, can’t help the irony of it though, coming from a guy who dropped a song called ‘Artistic Integrity’.

young..i was thinkin da EXACT same guy..dis is da guy who was basically dissin niggas like Gucci and fans who like Gucci on ‘The Mixtape About Nothing’

  18. …i just threw a fragile object across my room

  19. The song is still dope. And I’m sure the album will be too. We all make mistakes…let’s forgive Wale for letting Gucci get on his album.

  20. ur a hater if u no longer like him cuz he did a song with gucci…so did jada, is kiss wack now too? shit the nigga wale got famous of wayne and that nike boots shit…ya’ll some feminine ass niggas for real…

  21. i was actually a fan of wale’s b4 this. now = hell no!!. but i shoulda known this was gonna happen, its just niggas sellin there souls

  22. oh yea it doesnt ruin the song at all to have a man who sounds like hes 85 fuckin years old in the middle of your track talking about getting girls and shit. wtf!

  23. Gucci!!!!

  24. C’mon Wale you can do better than this…just keep it real and make that real music instead of letting Gucci hop on this track. Its not worth losing your real fans jus so you can appeal more to the younger girls.

  25. i mean..im still a fan..cuz he makes good music..but still..dnt diss somethin..den go back and do it urself

  26. no. damn wale i thought u had potential. this is horribly upsetting.

  27. hope Wale changes his mind on this song after reading these comments…

He’s rapping on it there’s really nothing to say about it but why have him on it?! Yea he ruined it. It was fine the way it was.

  29. This song is pretty dope until Gucci Mane….

  30. U people are crazy, your not gonna buy or be a fan of dude because of an artist he put on a track? Gucci didn’t even ruin the track, listen. It’s a business, he has to do what he has to do.

  31. Talk about a downgrade….Wale’s part is still dope though.

  32. …Wale what the fuck are you doing guy? Sell out ass nigga

  33. i wonder if he realizes that probably 90 percent of his fan base cant stand gucci?

  34. y’all make it sound like his whole career is over because of one song

  35. all the comments about the DMV area’s infatuation with Gucci Mane are true and that’s probably why he did it. you can’t go anywhere in this area without hearing Gucci Mane. wale’s probably just trying to make a killing on album sales.

  36. the reason this is fucked up is bcuz this makes wale look like a hypocrite…no one’s hatin but for someone who talks about what wale does hes doing nothin but alienating his true fanbase with this one…

    smh

  37. i never took Wale for a sellout…til now…but hey a nigga gotta eat go go rapping jus wont bringing in the checks

  38. Lol…Ima take a break from this dude

  39. and all the people commenting like this isn’t the problem…go listen to one of wale’s OWN track “artistic integrity” in fact the whole damn tape dude is spewing all these ideals n then comes with this??

yea you lose fans like that

  40. i guess since da DMV so caught on Gucci..and nobody on DMV radio stations really playin Wale fo real..he saw dis as a chance to get played..still a hypocrite move tho..

  41. wale is garbage and i’ve been saying this forever. gucci mane is the worst alive tho.

  42. *isn’t a problem

  43. THIS IS FUCKERY WALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    YOU LOST A FAN!!!!!!!!
AND IVE BEEN TO UR SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!
    AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  44. smh disappointed in us (DMV) for not supportin Wale as much as we support Gucci, am I the only one over here who doesnt like Gucci

Only 1 person said that they wouldn’t buy the album. I’ll still cop based on the fact that its only ONE song I know I’ll definitely be skipping.

  46. gucci actually aint do bad in the song…i can see people feelin this track

  47. *blank stare*

    *scratches head*

  48. i mean…maybe this is unofficial…maybe gucci did it himself
all we can do is pray that this doesn’t see the light of day…

  49. nvm

  50. if you thought wale wasn’t gonna get somebody thats popular but not as “credible” then you was lying to yourself. he had lady gaga on his 1st single

  51. i just don’t get why hes losing fans from one song? its not like eh got an album full of this

  52. hold on didnt this ngga make a song called, wait for it… “ARTISTIC INTEGRITY” buhahaha this is to funny lmao

  53. def not buying the album now…will bootleg it though.

refuse to give Gucci Mane 1 cent.

  54. Lol to everybody talking about it doesn’t matter kuz it’s a business…yall are the same reason why Hip-Hop is real whack these days kuz yall support rappers in it simply for the money. I’m from the DMV and personally am not a fan of Gucci and think he is a terrible lyricist which is what hip-hop is about and have mad respect for Wale cuz he is the opposite. Did Lupe have to throw lil jon on his album when he first came out? No, and Wale shoulda stuck to his originality. And how do you throw Gucci on a CLASSIC go-go joint? Very dissapointed wale…but regardless I will be showing love and coppin that Attention Deficit

  55. Lol wow..y’all sound really salty saying “im not buying this album anymore cuz of this”

  56. this is worse than jadakiss + oj da juiceman. smh.

  57. Word is this is the REMIX!!!!!!!!!!!!

  58. Getting Gucci Mane on a Wale track is a BUZZKILL!

  59. BUZZKILL

  60. FUCKING BUZZKILL

  61. WOW SUCH A BUZZKILL

  62. Wale said Bun B was the only rappin feature on the album. What happened with that? Fuck Gucci.

So much for Wale’s “Artistic Integrity”. Whatever, Skyzoo has completely taken over my speakers for a while now. As dope as Wale’s mixtape was, it hasnt gotten much play thanks to Power of Words and all Skyzoo’s old ish

  63. And people comparin this to DC Chillin with lady gaga. That’s completely different…Gucci is a lame artist with no talent…Lady gaga is a pop singer and that collabo/song is something most people in the game wouldnt even think of doing. It’s different…catches your attention and is high energy similar to a lot of go-go tracks.

  64. hahahaahahahaaahahaahhaaahahaaaahaaahahahah niggas mad ahahaaahaahahahahahahhaahhaahhah its gucccccccccccciii!!!!!!!!!!

  65. Jesus I hope this isn’t the official version

  66. grrrr wtf was he thinking? what happened to “the lady gaga was the invitiation to the other party” isnt that what the point of chillin was?

this song could have been just as successful with or without gucci on it. his verse is terrible and doesnt even sound good with wale.

man… watever i got nothing to say about this…ill be replacing this on my itunes with the original version.

  67. dis joint still rocks like shyt………i would understand if it was a artistic integrity type of track and gucci was on it…….dis fun club joint………if yall some true wale fans yall will know that the bulk of his album is gonna have alot of subject matter……..hes tryna b dat nigga dat can do a record wit a gucci man or a lady gaga……….or bun b and turn around and do a joint wit a chrisette michele……daniele merriweather…….etc

  68. not mad psst. just real disappointed.

Ppl work w/ pop stars all the time. Its not different. It corporate decisions. Just like this one I’m sure.

  70. Im going to say two things, didnt read all these comments to see if its said oh well if so:

    1. OG Versions of Wale’s Album Tracks > Final. word to chillin and this.

2.Im not going to listen to this version, Im going to bootleg Wale’s album, and switch the OG with this.

  71. *checks calendar to confirm that today is, in fact, not april 1st*
long time wale fan…… this is pretty upsetting i can’t lie

  72. i don’t see why people are saying “oh God, i’ll never be a Wale fan now!” over this. Yes, Gucci Mane is wack. Yes, it’s a business move. Yes, it works negatively for the hip-hoppers, but positively for the commercial industry. That’s the game…he’s signed to a major label. He HAS to make sacrifices, period. Speaking as an artist, it ain’t as simple as trying to just do it your way. Maybe as an indie artist, yeah, but not on a major, especially in ‘09; You got the version without Gucci. Keep that and play it. On the album, just skip this track or replace it in the iTunes. Problem solved.

    Peace & Hip-Hop
    Lyriciss

  73. Gucci voice was just uncomfortable on this one. sounds like he just woke up. never was a huge fan of wale tho but i enjoyed this song prior to gooch

  74. lmao yall niggas is real sensitive…so gucci is on 1 wale song, so now hes wack and is a sell out, fuck outta here. yea i heard the artistic integrity joint and this is not a cop-out. this is whats wrong with the game elitist ass “hip hop heads” think they better than the music. acting like the hip hop experts able to deem any artist they dont like as not being a part of the culture (even tho they are).

not buying an album cuz of 1 feature is off some gump ass shit, especially if u called urself a fan of his music before. and being from the dmv area, gucci does get love for whatever reasons, so having him on the track WILL get him radio play….radio play means more exposure, more exposure means more wale good music. niggas gotta eat

  75. and lyriciss its chris…whats good my nigga!

  76. He made a sacrifice with the GaGa joint, in my opinion. I dig what to saying Lyriciss, but at some point a nigga has to stand up and say ‘No, this is my first body of work, and I will not let you tarnish it by placing the worse rapper of all the trap rappers, on my album’. Simple as that. Because until artist start standing up to these labels, we, the consumer, will continue to get OJ the Jucieman on comeback albums from NY Veterans, and Gucci Mane on debut albums from artist with what appears to be longevity and potential.

  77. omg wat if it was his idea…

  78. wtf are you all talking about, gucci didn’t even hurt this song…
do none of you remember when kanye put paul wall up on drive slow…?
everyone thought he was crazy as hell for doing and the song was still better than any other shit out at the time…
point blank: who gives a fuck what artist gets put on track so long as they bring it…?

  79. wale dope, gucci dope, stop bitching you all sound like some fucking sissy as girls.

  80. ass*

  81. “He made a sacrifice with the GaGa joint, in my opinion. …..and watch his album not see the light of day. look at the label over seeing the one hes on.

  82. Wale is sick
    gucci is garbage
im disappointed but one track with a bad “artist” doesn’t void all of the good music wale’s given us.
still going to support Attention: Deficit in sept

  83. *Sighs* Ah well.
Btw, for all of you that are saying that he just lost ya as a fan, keep in mind that there are 3 Gucci Mane fans for each one of ya

    lolol

  84. Seriously Wale what the fuck were you thinking. Yes I’m still a fan and yes I still plan on buying the album, but between this and Lady Gaga jumping on “Chillin” for no other reason than to make it Z100 friendly, you’re making it look like when the label says “jump” you say “how high”.

  85. y ppl actin crazy gay… its a song…

  86. [...] Dammit Wale. Oh well, as long as the rest of your album is pure hip-hop that I won’t be mad. Attention: Deficit drops Sept. 22nd! Shouts to Shake. [...]

  87. yo wtf all yall niggas some fake ass wale fans.
okay wow gucci gets on one track and your talking
about “wale you just lost a fan”
all you niggas could eat a dick.
    sensitive fucks.

  88. I love reading how upset people get over a track, maybe you should just listen to the other version then… But me ill FUCKS wit it!!!

  89. lmao yall mad gucci’s verse in actually dope minus the “yellow diamonds look like a slushy” line

    wale is still that nigga

  90. who is the girl on the left?

  91. ^^^he should put “yellow diamonds look like my teeth” lmao

  92. @Dkj
that megan fox before the surgery

  93. when was wale even good?

  94. SMH @ Wale ruining the original.
    AND
SMH @ Wale canceling his TORONTO show THE NIGHT BEFORE.

  95. SMH at “fans” just accepting this and making excuses…Complex Mag was right about Wale tho

  96. Why cant rappers understand that when youve come up from the underground, aka the internets you are held to a certain level of respect and are expected to maintain a standard of excellence and substance. The people who made Wale did so because they were tired of hearing bullshit like Gucci. Of course hes going to alienate his fanbase, wtf do ya’ll think is gonna happen with some bullshit like this. Regardless of whether it was his decision or the labels it speaks on either the futility of being signed to a major label in this generation IMO indie is the way to go or the foolishness of Wale just dying to break into an audience that just wont support him like his old die hard fanbase

  97. Wale said that only guest vocals are BunB and K’naan. Also said production but BKS wasn’t one of them so I doubt this is a album cut. But who knows

But I’m keepin the original one cause NO…no gucci mane! Still disappointed. Rather see Fab or Way Drake Luda Lupe Cudi West if you want popularity.

    GUCCI

  98. [...] 2DBZ Listen Up Gucci Mane › [...]

  99. Some of the people here are going a bit overboard. Y’all acting like 1 Gucci verse is going to ruin the entire album.

  100. Dope, funny track. Gucci didn’t ruin the song and the beat is fresh. Why hate just because gucci is on the track.

  101. Didn’t listen to it yet but Guicci better not have ruined the song like he does with most shit because this track was already dope the way it was!

  102. damn look at all this HATE…my nigga Gucci gonna go platinum in the first week thanks to y’all..HAHA!

“Gucci Movie” by Gucci Mane in stores September 15th!!!

  103. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    go cop that shitt!!!!!

  104. support GUCCI!!

    BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  105. I’m not going to buy his album! How could he put gucci on that one verse! he is garbage now! GTFOH with that bullshit. this song is still hot and if you don’t like it you can download the one without gucci very easily. Or you could just skip the track when you get the album, not very hard choices. I don’t like gucci either but hey there is a lot of people that do. If that is what wale wants to do, more power to him. niggaz actin like gucci is going to be all over the album or some shit like that.

  106. and kill the man who said I won’t give gucci one cent of my money…..damn,he got a album called attention deficit too? small world..

  107. ive been roughly followin these comments and im surprise no one mentioned anything about that ugly ass bitch up dere…everytime i come across this post i find it hard to look at the pic…but she got potential id hit if she gets her teeth fixed

  108. ^jcrunk

I was just thinkin about that pic!!!Iz that really megan before surgery!lol

Nah just playin, thats one ugly chick though! I almost threw up on my Laptop. Didn’t listen to tha song,I don’t fuck w/ Gucci Mane,OJ,Shawty Lo,Lil Boosie,Webbie type rap niggaz, only in the club,or by accident.Unless someone around plays a track by them that there featured on

  109. Damn, jcrunk beat me to it. 100 comments later, I was about to ask “Am I the only one who’s phased by the damn blog picture?” — Shake pulled a “Wale” with that one!

As for this song, sorry but Gucci is one of the few artists on my “do not listen” list. I’ll stick to the original version of this song (which I love). Wale seems to have a knack for ruining really dope songs with dumbass features (all due respect to Lady Gaga cause I dig her in small doses).

I don’t care who’s responsible for this decision, I doubt I’ll be buyin’ this album, which is a damn shame cause I’ve planned on supporting all the new cats’ albums (Asher Roth, CuDi, Mickey, Sky, etc.) — I ain’t mad at him though, I’m still a big fan of Wale, I just hope he realizes how stupid this move was.

Dah well… still an amazing year for music and more to come.

  110. OMFGGG WTFFF IS THAT PICTURE AHHH

  111. I was waiting on the CDQ of this then he fucks up the song by putting Gucci on it. I hope this is just for the radio audience in DC and the album version is gucciless god willing

  112. never was a big fan of wale this song isnt as bad as some of you make it out to be. at least gucci was on beat and flowed pretty well his wordplay still is borderline retarded though. is it me or songs that are being pushed out from majors nowadays is all about the beat? the lryics in the song were ok but what got my attention was the beat. just give me the instrumental of this and im fine with that. thats kind of a problem with some hip hop today hot beat = success regardless of the lryics. wasnt sure if this was the labels move or his either way when its all said and doen whether you like it or not shit was made and will be on his album. but whats with all these fucking collabs and cosigns? artists dont have enough talent to stand alone or what?

  113. /bumps J.Cole – The Warm Up

^ Hip-hop needs this dude. Goddamit Wale smh

  114. SMFH
    wow wale

  115. yeah this is official… wale:::

why @wale why!!!!..I kno mad dc people like Gucci but Why!!!!!!!!!
    _________________________________________
@duces1 man… I love dc md va to death…its for the scarface byb era its for the girls in the club..I just wanna have fun sep 22nd! letsgo

  116. straight from twitter

  117. this is going to kill his career

  118. wale just committed career suicide.

  119. Gucci Mane is hot right now… Why?… I have no clue why….

Wale should of holla at Pusha T cuz I could see him boding this track…

  120. Wale’s career will be just fine, stop crying bitches.bet all those who say they are gonna give up on him actually wont

  121. for every damn underground head that supposedly just jumped off the train, hes probably just gained double the amount of mainstream fans which is where the money is at. dude is just making smart business moves. if you actually stop listening to an artist you like just because they collabed with an artist you dont like thats just straight up retarded.

  122. Before I listen, Gucci better not fuck it up.

and if he does, hopefully this doesn’t become a single.

  123. …Gucci didn’t suck. That’s a first.

    BURRR.

  124. They’re friends

  125. “this is going to kill his career”? What people are missing is that no one knows who Wale is outside of these esoteric blogs. I’m a huge Wale fan. I saw him when he came to the D and he can really perform esp with his band, which I believe he’ll reach iconic status. Homeboy is just looking to increase his fanbase before his album comes out. Sure we all hate Gucci Mane as with all the other ringtone crappers, but they sell buttloads of records and sell out shows.

  126. Dear Everyone,

Please stop hating on Gucci Mane. He’s not a Nas styled lyricist, but fuck he ain’t supposed to be. I am an up top nigga bread on Jay and Nas and Big. I fuck wit Sky, Wale, J. Cole (the the fucking truth) and all that. But for you to hate on him simply cause he is a SYMBOL of what you dislike is unfaithful to what rap is about. Gucci is a true and tried representation of of his upbringing and lifestyle. The way to takes over beats is something fresh and they way he says a SHITLOAD in his raps that most rap fans looking for punchlines and clever rhyme patterns might is something that is different and admirable. I’m sure a lot of you hated on the verse before you listened. He ain’t Ghostface but he shouldn’t have to be. Check his mixtapes out before you crucify.

    http://brandonsoderberg.blogspot.com/2009/06/two-or-three-things-i-know-about-gucci.html

peep that blog and read an intellectual opinion before you hate.

Props on Wale for not being scared to upset his judgemental rap fans in order to take this album in a direction that he believes in.

  127. http://usershare.net/7g5srxxg6036

  128. ^ Its dirty from i-tunes

  129. P.S. YOU CAN STILL GET THE GUCCI LESS VERSION.

  130. Who’s Wale?

  131. lol @guccimane

  132. So the concensus most you yentas came up with to teach the system a lesson is to not buy wales album cause of this feature?

Gucci’s still gonna sell. His fans don’t give a fuck, they’ll bump him regardless.

    Elitism isn’t hip-hop.

  133. NOOOOOO!!!!!
like that is wat wale fans dont want
im soooo heated right now..like everybody who gotta twitter
hit wale up on it and tell him that that aint gonna fly
    im so serious -_-

  134. @adder. that blog summed up in a nutshell is this: the useless over analysis of an extremely simple subject. It really isnt that deep at all man. There is good music and bad music. Analyzing rappers isnt like analyzing The songs of innocence and experience or Lord of the flies or heart of darkness. I can come up with some elaborate psuedo-intellectual bullshit about how Soulja Boy saved hip hop. Thats the issue. We have allowed ourselves to be sucked into this gray area. Gucci sucks, Soulja sucks, Shawty Lo sucks, Rocko sucks thats it. There is nothing profound to be found. I will still support Wale’s album but allow me to take us out of the gray area, this was a bad decision, the song was better without Gucci, and he will lose fans over this decision. Fact like it or not.

  135. adder where can u get the buzz killington less version at uncensored?

  136. you know what i love?… how a feature on a song determines how good an artist. Yes Gucci Mane sucks. WTF CARES!!! Wale is one of the best lyricists right now. Many artists have had bad features. The song is still hot and Wale is still the shit. The feature wasn’t even THAT bad! Gucci said his shit and was out. Career suicide??? are you fucking kidding me?? all the real fans stand up please.

  137. lmao yall niggas is real sensitive…so gucci is on 1 wale song, so now hes wack and is a sell out, fuck outta here. yea i heard the artistic integrity joint and this is not a cop-out. this is whats wrong with the game elitist ass “hip hop heads” think they better than the music. acting like the hip hop experts able to deem any artist they dont like as not being a part of the culture (even tho they are).

  138. @BlindsidedXIX Gucci Mane sucks at rapping like a mid 90s rapper. That is an undisputed fact. But to say that fact alone says he sucks as a musician and an artist if a gross overstatement. He brings something to the table. If you don’t like that yeah to you he sucks. Your opinion. Legit. But I just graduated school from Vanderbilt in Nashville TN and for every person like you that says he sucks, there are 2 in Nashville, or Memphis, or Atlanta, or Birmingham that love the nigga to death. Just cause you don’t like his technical ability to rap in the way that YOU value rap does not mean he doesn’t rap in a ‘good’ way. He OWNS beats and says shit on them that motherfuckers love and in more than a ‘I’ll just throw shit on my ipod’ way.

  139. Gucci didn’t really mess up the song like I thought he would, but he doesn’t help it either! How does Wale have an album called “Attention:Deficit” and then has Gucci Mane on there? Gucci is not gonna guarantee the radio play and overall support from the D.M.V. that Wale wants! I’m not giving up on homeboy, but this ish goin on nowadays is gettin outta hand!

  140. LOL! damn yall spaazzzed. i can take a small dose of gucci, but not a full hour of him…but dope song still. Wale did the right thing, he needs to get more people into his fan base, he’s been in the business for awhile. he’s been the king of the freshmen class in hip hop for like 3 years now…let the nigga graduate and get some mainstream to his name.

  141. @Adder it isnt a gross understatement at all my friend I respect ur opinion but for u to call him a musician or an artist is an insult to both categories. For he is none of those things. He is a young man exploiting a culture to make money he cares nothing for the art form, so by default he isnt an artist. And just because the masses likes it doesnt mean it has any substance, especially considering most people dont even listen to what is being said and/or are just dumb, call me elitist whatever. I understand bullshit will always be around and thats fine. but Wale has advertised he against all that etc etc. and then he comes with this. I know where ur coming from though I study over at Purdue and theres some people who bump that nonsense but the fact remains Gucci is bad. And this is contradiction to what Wale advertises i will still support Spe 22nd

  142. Sept*

  143. And lmao @ Gucci talkin about ugly girls! Has he ever looked in the mirror?

  144. Wale ain’t coming out with a CD for “new york intellectual rap heads”. This nigga is from D.C. where they are caught between Ghostface and Gucci. Below the Mason Dixon but a bus ride from Philly. Don’t be so fucking elitist and think that YOUR version of hip hop is the only version. You know how english used to sound? Like that shit shakespear wrote. And now it includes dialects including mine and yours. You think Billy Shakespear would call this english? Shit CHANGES. Before there was Nas there was MC fucking hammer. R&B stands for Rhythm and Blues and you can like The Dream without thinking he bastardized the genre. The continuum of music in this country is incredible and without fucking classical we wouldn’t have rap. Shit is MUSIC man. It’s an expression of something and should NOT be put into a fucking box that says if you don’t follow these rules you ain’t real hip hop. Fuck with what YOU like but don’t criticize Wale for not having your EXACT fucking taste. He fucks wit Gucci. Don’t mean he’s a sellout. He just likes shit that you may not and if you fuck with his music as a whole then be happy. All the music this nigga gave you so far was FREE. You don’t like this song then skip it on the album. Chances are the rest of the songs is shit you gonna be rewinding all day.

LET HIP HOP LIVE. The niggas tryna squeeze it into a fucking box are the ones that are killing it.

  145. Dont get all uppity man u didnt address what I said at all. I said its a contradiction to what he advertises. Im actually not from New York Im from the South oddly enough. Im criticizing him for a contradiction. Dont try and straw man me. Ive already said im gonna support the album and I have hope for Wale. But this is a contradiction and the song was better without it. Im not telling anyone not to bump it or to ostracize Wale from the hip hop community. Dont jump the gun

  146. @BlindsidedXIX
Exploiting a culture?! This man represents a culture. And don’t call the people who bump him dumb. I know nigga’s who graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt that could identify with the culture the Gucci represents more than they could with what Nas represents. The stereotype that is held by southern rap fans is ridiculous. I admit I had them going down to nashville (I’m from Philly) but they are bullshit. You think that the people who bump gucci are all fucking backwoods anti intellectual retards that don’t know shit about music. False. They know shit about music that represents them. Listen to 36 chambers and you will find it littered with slang that ONLY up north niggas was talking about and down south niggas wasn’t on. Now that up north niggas are exposed to that with southern music there is a backlash. They don’t talk like us so they ain’t gonna rap like us.

It’s not even like Gucci has a huge mainstream following. MOST of his followers are “underground” but the fact that he isn’t the stereotype of underground the “true school” rappers shun him. He releases MIXTAPES, not albums, but MIXTAPES, that have the south going nuts and he has garnered a fucking following because of it. And what kind of money do you think he is making? He’s putting out mixtapes. that shit don’t get a nigga a Rolls. He has something to say and people who can identify with him are listening. To disqualify that as art because only “them dumb southern niggas” like it then you need to really check your view point of rap, black, and american culture.

  147. again. u havent really addressed anything I said. so once again..actually no I digress it is what is. Ive already said what I had to say go chew out the other 100 comments bashing this song. Ive said my piece and ur not addressing what i just said so this is pointless goodnight sir. The culture he “represents” btw, is what makes so many people look at rap, black, and american culture as a joke. So perhaps i am not the only one who needs to check his point of view. I respect u adder though u may not believe it this has been a good back and forth but im out. goodnight

  148. gucci mane shitted all over this track . The track was INCREDIBLE without him . WALE = SELLOUT LADY GAGA THEN GUCCI MANE He might as well put Tpain on the hook in his next album

  149. “I understand bullshit will always be around and thats fine. but Wale has advertised he against all that etc etc. and then he comes with this.”

The main disagreement is that you find Gucci to be “bullshit” and I find him to be important. He sucks at rap in the classical sense. I agree. But that does not mean he sucks at Rap. Technical ability is not all that makes up an Artist. For you to say ” especially considering most people dont even listen to what is being said and/or are just dumb” is also just misrepresentation of the people who listen to him. You’re belittling their ability to reason. People like him for a reason and for what he says. These guys whole mixtapes back word for word. They listen and they love it. My only point is that what YOU call bullshit is just bullshit to you. He don’t know his motives and shouldn’t assume to know them. Wale hasn’t said he’s against Gucci. He’s against bad art. And to me, him, and a lot of not so dumb people, Gucci ain’t that.

  150. Props to you BlindsidedXIX. Thanks for having the discussion for real. I respect your opinion but I guess once I got into Gucci I got hypersensitive to people he just cast him as the symbol of “what’s wrong with hip hop.” Thanks for the discussion and goodnight my man.

  151. ^ Same to you this is the last comment for real lol. And perhaps I am one of those people who do cast him as the symbol of “whats wrong with hip hop” but know, that I have actually listened to the mans music. and also know that I appreciate u approaching it from an objective point of view and arguing ur side. I think we can both agree that, that is hiphop. peace

  152. GUCCI MANE AGAIN!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!
MORE AND MORE QUESTIONABLE INTEGRITY SHIT POSTED.

  153. Not only did Wale have a song called ‘Artistic Integrity’, he’s gonna have ‘Artistic Integrity Pt. 2′ on the very same album these tracks with Lady Gaga and Gucci Mane will be on.

  154. wale is overrated pretty much trash imo and i been saying this since dude came out…plus his persona/attitude is garbage…dude is a fraud and a lame..its easy to see thru ppl n this dude aint authentic

  155. yeah ill agree with fulltimeboss on this one…wale is trash

  156. what the fuck is wrong with gucci lips??????????

  157. this does not do justice to the original sample….if you’re gonna use a sample, at least try to make it better than the original.

  158. I loved this track when i first heard it. Gucci’s verse isn’t that bad, I feel like he mightve put a little extra effort in the lyrics. But I feel like he shouldn’t have put Gucci on here just cause its a straight DC style track and the track didn’t really need anything else anyways. I’m glad the song is gonna be on his album though.

  159. Oh dear.

  160. Getting Gucci on your tracks is just wrong, and more and more people are doing it. Looks like hip hop really is dead. Watch Slaughterhouse come out with a track featuring Gucci Mane soon.

  161. 1st off, That is one ugly pic but no I see it goes with the song. My question is what the Hell Gucci do to make all of ya’ll act this way ? You make it seem like he flows like Silk the Shocker !! The track isn’t bad and he actually complimented Wale’s verses. This is no reason to lose a fan over but to each it’s own.

  162. BB makes a great point. Does anyone really care about things like this other than people like us?? If they did, I don’t think much music would EVER get produced. I’m not familiar with Gucci’s discography (and may never be), but I understand where all of the naysayers are coming from. It is a questionable move. I also know that I know a good artist when I hear and see them perform. Wale is one of them. I was born and raised in the DMV and was very proud to see him represent the area on Carson Daly and on Jimmy Fallon’s show. He’s an extremely talented emcee that has a bright future ahead of him. He has to do a lot worse than have a feature like this to ‘ruin’ his career. I will be buying the album in September and a lot of other people will, too.

  163. well at least gucci wasnt terrible

  164. The same nigga that talks about cliché shit in rap and how he wants to be different ALWAYS goes out and does cliché shit. Wouldn’t be on the radio if it weren’t for Wayne and Lady Gaga, real shit. Such a fuckin hypocrite, I’ll be downloading this whack ass album.

  165. wale’s career isn’t over. this album is still gona be dope as hell wale’s one of the best mc’s in the game. he’s even nice on pretty girls. but you can’t make an excuse for gucci. he’s not good, and i really don’t understand how people actually like this dude. he also wasn’t good on this track. he wasnt HORRIBLE, but it’s sad that people are sitting here saying things like “well he wasn’t that bad this time” or “at least he wasnt terrible”. this song was nice withouth gucci and he made it worse. but that won’t stop me from gettin the album.

  166. TRAP CITY WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT……YOUNG JEEZY WILL RIDE ON ANY OF THESE CRUMBZ….YA HEARD ME. ATL ALL DAY, YA HEARD, WE DO BIG THINGZ….WHUT U KNO BOUT IT……ATL ALL DAY…WE RIDE ON YOU

  167. ^^cl good point but how do you defend an artist that makes a song like artistic integrity and then turns around and does this to promote his album.im not sayin the rest of the album wont be brillant,im sure it will, but you cant excuse the ignorance of this move.it is totally hypocrtical.look at artists like joe budden and royce who had crossover singles and still get cruxcified to this day but as its wale hes just tryna appeal to a wider fanbase.seems like more double standards

    just my 2 cents

  168. Do ppl even kno wut artistic integrity is? its simply a matter of stayin true to urself. It doesnt mean everythin u do has to b fuckin conscious shit, that would jus b borin. even Common got tired of that formula. ppl keep forgettin how hip hop got started… PARTY MUSIC! so u mean to tell me a cat does a couple party traks and all of a sudden hes a sellout? I can read a book and go to tha clubs too, dont make me a livin contradiction. As someone who’s followed Wale’s music, i’ve heard him do some party tracks, and some conscious shit, and some all around different shit like w.a.l.e.d.a.n.c.e. tha point is, his versatility is one of tha things that make him so dope. anyways, wait til tha album comes out b4 castin stones.

  169. I’m not a Gucci fan but Adder but some very concrete points. And to me, Gucci Mane is like a Too Short for this generation. Would any of you guys honesty say Too Short is lyrically inclined? No. But he is a legend and talking shit about him would be frowned upon. In due time Gucci will get respect even from people across the board. I know ODB does and he was def not a wordsmith. I’ve yet to hear someone call another person stupid because they listen to Wu. Just let people have their music and if you don’t like it, listen to someone else or make our own. It’s quite simple, really.

  170. @DL

you pretty much summed it all up..Wale was staying true to himself by featuring Gucci…Wale aint no New Yorker whose biased against anything southern or non-underground, he’s from DMV…most of the DMV niggas bump Gucci…if Wale disowns Gucci, he disowns DMV which pretty much makes him a foreigner…he stayed true to himself, even if a bunch of NYers threw a fit over it…

  171. jadaafa: I did say that this choice was questionable. To be honest with you, I don’t know if I CAN defend this choice. This is mainly because I don’t think that Gucci added anything to this track which was fine without him. Somebody in this thread mentioned that Pusha T would’ve done better and I agree with that 100%. Having said that, this ‘questionable act’ isn’t going to keep me from buying this album.

RE: “The Artistic Intergrity” That was on a mixtape (a mixtape that was better than a lot of hip-hop albums released last year), which leads me to ask the questions: Do you all think that emcees get more creative control over what they produce on a mixtape than they do on a studio album? I don’t want to speak in hyperbole, but I think that Wale revitalized a tired medium (the mixtape game) and gave new meaning to what a mixtape was capable of accomplishing. This might be one reason why a lot of you are upset with this track being an album version. Are we expecting so much from him because of that tape or Do you think the label told him to put a popular rapper on this track?

  172. I listened to this track before passing judgement, it isn’t that bad, Wale kills it, it has a nice beat, Gucci Mane isn’t as terrible as I expected(I expect/hope that Gucci didn’t write his lyrics). Over all this is a pretty good track. not the best but is it as bad as having the manbeast Lady gaga on a track???? Wale needs a relevant artist in this climate in Hip Hop or the masses won’t buy his album. Oh and to the guy who said Lupe didn’t need Lil’ Jon on his debut album, Jay-Z was on lupe’s debut and it still didn’t sell well.

  173. There’s supposed 2 be an Artistic Integrity II on the album right?? Im gonna wait till i hear a couple of the other key songs b4 i choose 2 buy the album…? Wale is dope and all but idk his personality is jai annoying..

  174. and this album is gonna have features galore i can already tell…maybe Jigga…smh

  175. haha. wale > gucci mane.
    his talent shines through.

i laugh cause that *chick doesn’t have a nose. ROFL.

  176. I guess you mofo’s would rather listen to a “Hip Hop” artist that raps about quasars and black holes than listen to a real person rap about what they really do. Lyrics are always nice, but I listen to what is relevant. If you start rapping about shit you never experienced, my ears will turn off and I will be looking to rob you because your obviously fake and somewhat retarded. Retards can be smart, they just don’t catch on to things properly.

  177. Gucci isn’t “Hip-Hop” he’s RAP, so why are “Hip-Hop Heads” so worried about him? I mean if LeBron is the best player in the NBA (this is an EXAMPLE) I’m sure Peyton Manning doesn’t care, because they’re not in the same league, let alone sport, so please stop saying that all of these RAP artists are “what’s wrong with” or “killing” hip-hop, because you can’t kill a genre of music that you really aren’t even directly associated with.

  178. everyone listen up the original version of this song is just wale. wack ass gucci man just hopped on it

  179. im guessing the people that dont like gucci lives on anywhere but georgia, alabama, north & south carolina and even florida am i correct?

  180. How does a rapper who raps about gimmicky rappers and cliches and wak rappers gets the prime example of what he disslikes on his tracks???

What a fraud and hyprocrite you turned out to be Wale!!!

  181. if you really stop liking an artist because of a feature then don’t think you can ever say you were a true “fan”. its just a damn feature. if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it and shut the fuck up.

  182. I consiser myself fan of underground hip hop…but man, generally underground hip hop fans have to be the most annoying bitches in music. I hate Gucci Mane, but I’m gonna start dislike a rapper just because he made a song with a rapper I don’t like. Y’all need to grow a dick and some balls

  183. lmao yall niggas is real sensitive…so gucci is on 1 wale song, so now hes wack and is a sell out, fuck outta here. yea i heard the artistic integrity joint and this is not a cop-out. this is whats wrong with the game elitist ass “hip hop heads” think they better than the music. acting like the hip hop experts able to deem any artist they dont like as not being a part of the culture (even tho they are).

not buying an album cuz of 1 feature is off some gump ass shit, especially if u called urself a fan of his music before. and being from the dmv area, gucci does get love for whatever reasons, so having him on the track WILL get him radio play….radio play means more exposure, more exposure means more wale good music. niggas gotta eat
