It’s time for me to go off on a rant again. This time it’s about The Game and age in Hip-Hop. First, I’d like to talk about the age thing. It kind of bothers me that only in Hip-Hop is age a factor. I’m tired of people calling Jay-Z old at the age of 39. That’s definitely not old. Hip-Hop fans are ungrateful. If Paul McCartney said he was going on a tour this year at the age of 67, every rock fan would be in attendance in full fledge mode. No one would dare tell him to sit his “old ass” down. Music does not have an age. Why do you continue to call Jay-Z some sorts of old? I could see if, in fact, Jay-Z was trying to come out with a dance song and doing music for the teenagers, but that’s not the case. Hov’s music holds no age boundaries. Any age group can respect and kick it to what he’s saying. Birdman, on the other hand is 40 years old! Why do we not call him an “old ass nigga?” That irks my nerves. Birdman just began to claim being a ‘Blood’ a few years ago! Did he hit a midlife crisis and start saying “okay, Weezy, do your research. I need something to do. What gang should we join?” You know?
