John Forte – Play My Cards For Me

John Forte continues to be active and productive since his release from prison this past December. Taking full advantage of his freedom, Forte has been teacing at the City College of New York, recording with Talib Kweli, working on his memoirs, as well as working with Harlem-based initiative “In Arms Reach,” which works with at-risk youth who have incarcerated parents. Next Tuesday, John will be releasing an EP entitled, StyleFREE. The seven songs on the EP were written during the seven and a half years he was incarcerated. Here is one song off of the project, Play My Cards For Me. Of the song, John says: “['Play My Cards For Me'] is about the journey of a man (in this case me), and the willingness to relinquish control to his (my) loved one in the event of his (my) demise.” Look for a full length album, Water, Light, Sound, to drop in 2010. StyleFREE will be available for purchase next Tuesday from John’s site.

  7. wrongfully seized? dude was caught up importing 20lbs of frozen liquid cocaine.

    he got pardoned because he thought he was smuggling “cream” of the cash variety not cocaine. duke listened to way too much wu! basically he never had the intent to traffick/import the drugs. just the cash (still a crime)(currency reporting offenses are almost as serious as drugs no word of a lie).

    anyways, that’s the story. truth.

  10. lol…he was pardoned because he was a first time offender and got an unfair sentence bro. If he was caught smuggling money through Newark he would’ve been sentenced to a slightly lower period in jail and the same thing would’ve happened. He was a non-violent 1st time offender who was treated unfairly by the biased judicial system. that’s the story. truth.
