I agree with Yaseen. If we had respect and understanding, the majority of these comments would never be made. Notice most people that took offense to this were civil in their responses, not everyone, but a fair majority. Then you have people respond berating those who are offended with racism, bigotry and a dissertation on how inconsequential this is based on their personal beliefs about God and religion. People who are consumed by money, power and greed use religion to control the masses, yes. That does not however negate the religion itself, especially one who’s basic tenet is there is no God but God. The majority of this is a case of ignorance, a post about a Black Muslim convert being labeled as a Indian cartoon character with a Arabic name, responded to by people confused between Sunni Islam and the Nation of Islam.

Now once more, I’ll say it again. From the moment this post got titled the Hadji edition it became less about Loon and more about labeling the foreign strange, same with the Sim Sim Salabim comment. As for Loon converting, as a Muslim we are not to judge others in this way, we simply say more power to him and keep it moving. Regardless of whether you believe in God or not I think not judging others and showing your fellow human being respect and humility is a great tenet to live by. Time will tell if this is legitimate or not, but for now I see nothing wrong with giving the brother the B.o.D. For those that think Islam is a violent religion on fanatics and terrorists, I suggest you meet some Muslims in your area and read the Qur’an before making judgments on people you think you get a gist from CNN.

Now as for the need to joke and religious people being to sensitive, how far does that go? Most Black people would be offended by a White man or woman calling them Nigger as a joke, does that make us as Black people sensitive? When do you draw the line? Just because yourself aren’t affected does not mean that it isn’t wrong. If we want distinctions as people of colour (or Whites that aren’t racist) and to be judged by the content of character we need to start making distinctions ourselves. Not all Muslims are Pakistani, in Islam you are supposed to wash and keep your body clean from impurities, not all religious people are fanatics, and not all hip-hop fans are ignorant internet gangsters.

yo real talk, i’m muslim and i’m not really offended by it but saying “this is why you never sign with sean combs” is a bit out of line. Just remove the post instead of losing viewers of your blog, it’s not like you’re gaining anything by leaving it there.

bashing is a little harsh no? goes back to that whole overly sensitive thing. all i said was people were too sensitive, and also hypocritical. did i use religion in a joke to articulate myself? sure, it was in context. but that’s hardly ‘bashing’. people can do whatever they want in terms of religion/worship, truly doesn’t matter to me one bit; but people should realize when they are being extreme/hypocritical as well. people just can’t take a joke nowadays, the world could use a bit more laughter. thought a major tenent of organized religions is tolerance?
