If you’ve noticed, every post mortem dedication has been handled by Shake. This is because I’ve refused to post any and every Jackson-related content due to my sheer disgust at the cannibalistic capitalistic/opportunistic nature of the many artists – not to mention the sheer gall of these ni**as – and their half-hearted attempt to try to get some shine by throwing together a bullshit “tribute” song. We see right through you, Judas.
Anyways, this particular post is an exception to the rule as not only is it a mix from my favorite producer, it is also from a person who’s made countless contributions to music over the past two decades. Long story short, I’ve been doing this long enough to see when it’s a genuine tribute and when it’s a suspect stab at publicity. Those cats are better off trying to sell me a poorly done screen-print tee on the street. Just enjoy the music and respect the legacy, nothing more, nothing less.

The truth
This Tribute > everything else every dropped in relation to his death
-_- So what’s the criteria again to know if a tribute is legit or not? Oh, right, whether you hate the person who did it or not!
GTFOH!!! And y’all got the nerve to call The Game phony?!
The song he did, is objectively a good song and enlightens MJ through Game’s point of view as well as everyone’s, there’s nothing “disgusting” about it.
What disgusts me is when a person, out of his own beliefs and hatred, dares to claim what is real/good or not, and make it sound like it’s the most altruist statement (defending MJ’s honor from mercenaries, speakin for his “real” fans”), when it’s really nothing more than an egoistical, biased, nonconstructive standpoint.
Just like THIS tribute, nonconstructive. What did Premier create? 0_o
I’m not questioning Premier’s greatness, but this tribute is messy, full with non-related material and didn’t create anything new. Game, Chris, Khalil and Diddy all gave us something new.
“but this tribute is messy, full with non-related material and didn’t create anything new. ”
possibly the most idiodic statement ever made
Thanks Meka. I thought the same thing when I saw 4 of em pop up less than two days after MJ’s death. You know they are half-assed and probably sound like shit. I’d rather just listen to the man’s actual music than someone trying to remix it in a matter of hours so they can shine. Definitely wanna chack out what Premier does though.

“It’s your man Termanology, I’m holdin it down with my dog man, my man Dj Premier…” non-related material? Check!
I honestly thought I accidentally opened something else. Why would you drop your name like that on a tribute (throughout)?
messing with the songs to the point of exhaustion? 10:30 – 12:00, Check!
didn’t create anything new? … well, most definitely didn’t! He didn’t even recreate anything. Check!
But hey man, if you like it, it’s fine!
I like some messy (B.E.P.), non-related material (whenever a rapper tries to follow a concept and fails), cliched stuff (every other hip hop song out there).
My point was only the comparison with The Game’s tribute.
I didn’t like this one for the reasons I mentioned: anything I liked, already existed (Michael’s songs), I prefer them without being messed with and most certainly without shoutouts and namedrops.
But I acknowledge it’s my opinion of it, I don’t start accusing Premier of this and that.
Try and do as objective analysis of The Game’s tribute.

Great Job on this Preemo!!! Great mix – especially the beginning with the Paul Mooney sample – that shit is sooo true. I expected a retrospective of MJ’s entire career, not just J5, but it’s all good. A great mix all-around. I’m ready for part 2 any time.
