I was playing Michael Jackson’s greatest hits this morning on the way to the supermarket, shopping with my mother. My mother was born in the 1950’s in India, and even she can find beauty in his music. I can play the same music in the car with my girl sitting by me, and she can feel the beauty in the music. I can blast tracks with my boys in the whip with the windows down, and people on the sidewalk would nod their heads and understand. Who else can break barriers like that, and appeal to so many people in so many different ways? There will never be another. A sad loss yesterday to not only the world of music, but the world as a whole.

yup you’re right. how many MJ albums you got? when was the last time you listened to him? I frankly don’t own any and when I do hear MJ, it’s played at a club. There’s a difference between listening to him by CHOICE or because his song happens to be on. I remember growing up catching the whole Smooth Criminal thing and paying attention to his dancing more than anything. Musically, MJ wasn’t the end of the world to my musical taste.
