  2. Agreed…Hip Hop needs more competition right now…every bodies to busy catching feelings and shit to really put them selves out there…you say you the best…well prove that shit…

  3. real talk, no matter how u feel about ll he’s hip hop & he knows what he’s talkin about

  4. LL is a smart man.

  5. “Jordan is not in the finals this year, thats just life”

word hiphop will never feel like the 90s,so people just gotta make it sound the best it can be which nobody gives a fuck about doing right now its all bout cars, bitches, trappin, etc bullshit

  6. “If you think you can outrhyme me, yeah boy I bet
Cause I ain’t met a motherfucker who can do that yet

  12. …and with that said, bring on Mos Def and his 4 against Jay-z and his 4. I wanna see this shit go down!!

  13. i agree that it’s changed a lot where it’s not the 90’s and mothafuckas aren’t that raw anymore and i feel like a lot of that is attributed to the change in the music game as well as the labels/a&rs/radiostations that help manipulate and mold it into it’s current state… but what i don’t agree with is people saying, “well that’s how it is today so just deal with it.” i think that’s full of BS and a fuckin’ cop out. case 1 for example… “freestyling off the top of the head.” i can’t count how many muthafuckas defend their artists by saying “well, uhh, umm, freestyling off the top of the head doesn’t uhh, matter anymore…” huh? GTFOH! i thought it was important to not forget about it’s raw essence, it’s nature, it’s soul, it’s passion and core. so if cat’s are saying, yo “it’s ok to battle” because that’s part of the culture… they shouldn’t be the same one’s saying “yo, fuck a freestyle nowadays” because in truth… battles are (and if not, SHOULD BE) off the top of the head. not an “unreleased song with unheard prewritten verses.” corny. good morning… it’s 3am in cali. haha

  14. Co-Sign B to the Fullest. I came from that era where battling was important and you had NO CHOICE to rep yourself, Especially if you was called out !! Beatboxing, Breakdancing, D.jing and emceeing – If you claimed to be the best or one of the best, prove it. I truly feel lyrical emcee’s nowadays are too scared of the scrutiny of looking foolish especially if their lyrics arent up to par with their name. The battle aspect is competition and competition is Hip Hop. I’m quite sure alot of ya’ll was surpried that LL, 13 years in the game at the time would not only go at the Lyrical Rookie Canibus but answer his 2nd Round Knockout back in the day but He came from that era !! Just like if Iverson would’ve challenged Jordan to a One on One after that SICK crossover, I think He would’ve accepted.

I still feel if a Battle between Joe and Meth happens it will be a Nasty one on both parts because they have 2 different styles and will bring more anticipation to the next track. These guys write songs not just spit bars, so it will be nice to hear.

  15. …and with that said, bring on Mos Def and his 4 against Jay-z and his 4. I wanna see this shit go down!!
    ……………

this is all ive been thinkin about for the last 24 hours

Mos Def, Nas, Jay Electronica, Black Thought and Doom

    VS

Jay-Z, Eminem, Percee P, Big Daddy Kane and throw in Lil Wayne there jus so we can all lol @ him. LMAO

that would be good to see.

  16. Rappers sure as hell don’t battle anymore… Most of them dont rap anymore either… But i do recall this cat askin for a “Rematch” with kool moe dee…. LL was shook… dam i feel old then a muthafucka…..

  17. Why would Cool J want a rematch with Moe Dee…?
Everyone knows he tore a new one in Moe Dee especially after “Jack The Ripper” then “To The Break Of Dawn” that solidified it.
Kool Moe went on into obscurity and hip hop folklore while LL went on to some of the hottest albums ever.

  18. Good to see James Todd sticking to hip-hop and not acting like a scared little girl, like SOME veteran rappers have been doing. If you have issue with the fact that another rapper said he’s better than you, RAP mother fucker! Prove that he’s not and take the W. These old ass rappers that act like they’re too good to do their damn job anymore need to be led out to pasture and put to sleep, then brought in and put on the chopping block.

  19. LL spoke some true shit. He’s a bonafide OG in the game and is more than on point.

  20. real shit…but yall kno LL got ate by Bis tho in the 90’s.
where is Canibus?? we need that keith murray joint w/ bis 2

  21. @ KAMUS,
Sorry, I didn’t then and still to this day agree with that !! All Canibus did was rehash the same shit Kool Moe Dee spit 10 years earlier – The fact he has Female fans (Like niggas was never feeling LL) and being concerned with the Next man’s Body (Straight gay) to a Hot Beat and Crazy video. LL came with it and if you think “99% of your fans don’t exist ” was the only thing he said, then that song basically went over your head and you need to listen to the song NOW for a better perspective.

I’m no Stan so I will say “Jack The Ripper” wasn’t all that – Very thin and “Let’s Go” was Diarrhea in a pair of new Sean Johns, But “To The Break of Dawn” which I call The Original “Takeover” was crazy especially at that time, 3 prominent emcee’s at his wrath while “DeathBlow” was another Let’s go – Same flow, Same Jock talk, Same L’s – Corny !!

  22. I’m glad LL said what he said. These old rappers feel that since they have been in the game for so long they can’t be challenge and if you do challenge them then it’s disrespectful. All I have to say is that’s some bullshit so you niggas need to get off meth dick and I’m not even a budden stan but i have listen to both of these guys and my opinion is if this was back in 02-03 maybe meth would have a chance but right now like joe said i don’t really see him beat this guy in a battle
