The problem is that some of you haven’t had the luxury of following hip-hop throughout your life and all you’ve seen regular though cultured urban life. That means from the time you were born and decided to live the urban lifestyle and listen to rap. It has nothing to do with the past. What I meant by that is that from the time you were born and experienced the culture you didn’t embrace the “culture” you just listen to the radio and saw videos and said to your self “I follow hip-hop” The whole culture has several elements besides rapping. Even so rapping is a skill and when people who obviously aren’t treating it as a hard skill it shows.
You can’t put Gucci up against any good rapper from the south, westcoast or eastcoast song-wise or skill-wise and honestly tell me he can rap or is good. PERIOD!
I’m simply saying if someone listened to enough rappers who have skills they would easily be able to know the difference between a good rapper vs a person who plays around on a beat and became popular. Those people never will get respect no matter how much money they get. Too many people are easily impressed by subpar skills.
