So I starting to question the musical taste & opinions of one of my fav music blogs (2dope). Between this post and the latest R. Ross post, I’m starting to think u guys might be nut ass dudes in disguise. Sure Asher has a great buzz right now but, he is an average MC. Seriously, saying he is anything else is a serious stretch. His album was a nice effort but after 3 days, I was done w/ it similar to R. Ross’. Why not view Luda hoping on this track as simply an MC hoping on a track that will immediately generate some white America buzz? Why does it mean that Luda thinks Asher is the Great White Hope?
Finally, saying that Ross is mediocre is just pathetic. Yeah I know it is only an opinion but, c’mon man.
When was the last time someone made as much noise as Ross is making right now? What is Asher doing right now that will be memorable a year from now.
Seriously 2Dope, I respect real hip hop like any other real hip hop head but your Asher & Ross opinions are the 1st time that I have considered really “grabbing the music and running”.

The whole back end of his album was full of hooks and dope as hell. He raps about shit sublime would write songs about and I think alotta white kids can get with it. I can.

Anybody comparing him to anybody is ridiculous. He’s a unique artist. Yes, he’s white. Yes, he sounds similar to em. Yes, his first single was corny. BUT, a MILLION people downloaded/bought that first single, just like eminem fans. If you REALLY listened to Asher Roth’s album and you REALLY are a fan of hip hop…you’re fucking retarded(sorry for being serious) if you’re not feeling it. It’s a super chill album to listen to from front to back. I love the half the people commenting on this album. It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at. Get involved, get down with this album. Listen to it with open ears. If you know ANYthing about hip hop, this is a must listen. I’m not going to say it’s my favorite hip hop album of all-time, but it has to be appreciated. Mos Def- Black on Both Sides. Jay-Z – Blueprint. Blackstar. Andre 3000 – The Love Below. Snoop – Doggystyle. Biggie- Life After Death. It’s too hard to name favorites, but these are albums I appreciate, and I fuck with Asher Roth. I can even get down with recent albums. Any Clipse album…you’re crazy if you’re not on board. Any Kanye album. Anyway…I could keep going…hop on 88-keys. Hop on kid cudi(open your mind past “day’n'night”) Trust me…you need to give this album a listen(Asleep in the Bread Aisle). Honestly, if you’re going to respond, please be intelligent about it.
While it’s ridiculous to say Asher is the 2009 vanilla ice, it’s just as ridiculous to say AITBI was a really good album. Great production, dope flow, but content-wise left a lot to be desired. Be understands his demographic and dumbed it down to punch lines on teddy ruxpin and blunt smoking. This isn’t to say he’s a shit artist; judge on his catalogue as a whole and not just the latest release. And can we dead the term REAL HIPHOP HEAD?
