Keeping it 100, a friend played this song for me damn near two years ago, and it still hasn’t grown on me yet. Man on the Moon: The Gaurdians coming soon.
i meant to watch 106 today so i could see this. the fact that they were saying kanye and cudi were going to be on, i was expecting kanye to drop a verse over it… i guess he just had to show up with cudi though, so kanye stans who dont know cudi can know who they are about to be future stans of. ahh well.. dope video.

FYI, Kanye showed up because they also put the “Welcome to Heartbreak” on 106 for the first time today, and if you had an up and coming artist you would want to affiliate your big name with him to get his career to a higher level too. I’m an admitted Kanye stan, but I have had Cudi’s mixtape since it dropped in July and it is some of the best hip hop material of the last 3 years. I just want to get it out there that I was a fan of Cudi before Kanye was, so your generalization (as well as in most stereotyping situations) is very ignorant. Peace.
it definitely is a good business practice. a very smart move for kanye ( one many other artists like diddy, t.i, and jay have used) to go out with his protege.
sort of like in a drug transaction, when you are introducing your homie to the d-boy. the first time you go with him so the supplier knows your boy is cool, every time after that you can stay at home trusting that your boy and d-boy are cool with each other…. i was just pointing out an observation. i dont watch 106 so its good to know kanye had his own product to push too, sad i missed it
however, it is my hypothesis that most people who watch 106 did not know who cudi was before kanye knew who he was (congrats to you). just like most people didnt know who drake was before wayne. and as big as Day N Nite is, im sure people are still just now getting hip, but they will be soon enough.
admitting you are a stan is whack though. im a fan of ye and cudi. but im not going to just go buy a cudi album bc ye told me to, which is what a stan would do, imo.
bout time this video is one of tha best all time! i luv it i cant stop watchn it n im proud of cuddi this is his n drakes year to takeover hip hop itz gonna happen!
Nice video, but let’s face it… Cudi is a fruit. The emceeing ain’t that great and so far, he hasn’t been able to back up his “success” with some quality material.
this song is just a song u can vibe 2 when ur alone in the car or just listening 2 ur ipod…Cudi isnt the best lyrical rapper but he makes dope music IMO…Kanye knows wat he’s doin with this one…i mean look @ wat he did 4 Lupe
I’m buggin’ out watching cats like Kid Cudi move to hip hop’s center stage. In the same way the 50 opened the door for that grimy street music to make a brief comeback, Kanye paved the way for this new wave of artists. I almost don’t want to call em hip hoppers, cause the music they make seems so far removed from that Illmatic, Cuban Linx shit I can’t get enough of.
Cudi, Cool Kids, Kidz in the Hall, Charles Hamilton — they all seem like a kids from the suburbs raised on the same hip hop that I love. Except their songs are like musical blogs or diaries about ordinary shit. (Check Cudi’s 106th and Park freestyle, where he raps/sings about he felt about toys he got for Christmas as a kid). That shit’s kinda boring.
But it is dope to watch people innovate and move the culture forward. It’s about that time, anyway. Hip hop’s been growing stale these last few years.
Sorry for the long-ass post. Do any of y’all feel me on this?
to the person above that was the smartest, most thorough analysis or feedback ive seen in alot of blogs. and i consider myself a hip hop head, uninterested in alot of the new music coming out. i just don’t think that we can call alot of the music that has come out in the last 3 years HIP HOP.
I do like this song…video is weird…
What’s with all these GOOD music guys being so damn kooky?! Can there be any good NORMAL rappers any more?! lol
I hate being creeped out by these vids.
I don’t know what Kudi has done to garner this attention. Maybe I just haven’t been in the loop like I should but this is the only song I’ve consistently heard him perform or heard anyone make reference to and if Meka said he heard this two years ago then uhh…you know….
Cudi isn’t on the same level as the other upstarts. His Day n Night Ep was quite weak I felt. Definitely Hamilton is a better lyricist, Drake is more musical… I don’t see his hype as warranted. When/if he puts out some solid, consistent original material, I will take him seriously.
Like you Meka I’ve heard about this song for awhile but like Paposse I can’t take an emcee with a name like Cudi seriously. Watching this vid is the first time me actually hearing this song and it is straight garbage. You know it’s garbage when alot heads are mentioning 106. When has BET ever played any real Hip Hop in the past five years? With emcees like Brother Ali or Jo well why are youngstas getting hards on for Hamilton or Cudi is beyond me.
Agreed w/ kraunik: the video is amazing–at least as good as the song if not better. Nobody makes music videos these days that are worth a damn so props to KC for giving the director some leeway to do something interesting.
hot videooo
Original’s Video > Crooker’s Video
the video is way hotter than the song & i’ve liked the song since the first time i heard it.
i just saw cudi and kanye on l06 & park…i was actually feelin’ him, surprise surprise…
i meant to watch 106 today so i could see this. the fact that they were saying kanye and cudi were going to be on, i was expecting kanye to drop a verse over it… i guess he just had to show up with cudi though, so kanye stans who dont know cudi can know who they are about to be future stans of. ahh well.. dope video.

guardians > gaurdians
not trying to be a dick, but i guess he(cudi) spelled it that way too
Meka, can you upload the new d.julien album? im lookin for that…
tight video, but the crookers remix is a tighter version. i fucks with cudi though.
@freshnessandabove Yeah That Was Ill Did ‘Ye Say It Was From Mybach Music 2?
best song of my life..=D
very nice. crookers remix version was trash

p.s. I agree the Crooker’s remix was trash, why try and fix something that is really good!?

Yikes…
it definitely is a good business practice. a very smart move for kanye ( one many other artists like diddy, t.i, and jay have used) to go out with his protege.

doooooope!!! I think they could have done better but its a pretty fly video.
jim jones shouldve stayed away from this song. The only remix I liked was from Fashawn. Sweet video tho
that was damn ttrippy.
i thought it would be better
that shit was hard
stoner? from the video more looks like hes on acid or something maybe peyote
as much as i want to hate that song, as a stoner, i just can’t…
the chorus is dumb as shit though, because he rhymes the same word 4 times. (night)
(no shots)
crazy video
travis barker was in it lol
what is guardian
Reminds me of that Mark Ronson Video “Stop Me”. Pretty cool though.
I’m with u Meka I never really felt this track at al. It is ok at best
one of the best videos of all time. real talk.
Nice video, but let’s face it… Cudi is a fruit. The emceeing ain’t that great and so far, he hasn’t been able to back up his “success” with some quality material.
best song for when ur cruisin at night.
this song is just a song u can vibe 2 when ur alone in the car or just listening 2 ur ipod…Cudi isnt the best lyrical rapper but he makes dope music IMO…Kanye knows wat he’s doin with this one…i mean look @ wat he did 4 Lupe
day n nite
and im feelin just the song by itself more than the music vid…it seems 2 childish and i never thought of the song as childish…
The remix is WAY better, Jimmy SMASHES this song…
But Cuddi is pretty tight. Hope his Album is bomb

^^^Listen 2 the “A Kid Named Cudi” mixtape…thats wat showed his talent beyond just Day N Nite..
im kinda with casso on this, im gonna check the mixtape tho….alot of these cats favored by the bloggers dont do much for me…vid was hot
