Promise – Blame It On Me (Sorry)

Since I’m flying back to Vegas from Toronto tonight I figure it’s only right to drop some music from both before hand. First off is an apology. Story goes like this… last week I put up a joint from Promise that wasn’t supposed to be leaked for a few reasons. Being the real cup that I am, I can admit when I’m at fault. There was some confusion within the email and I didn’t get that it was for my ears only. My apologies to Promise and the producer at hand. Promise felt the need to apologize as well but he’s an emcee… so his comes in the form of a song. So  M-Phazes… blame it on me.

Promise also speaks on his Letter to Drake and wants to make sure people realize it’s not a vendetta for hate and that it’s love. New mixtape dropping Valentine’s Day right here on 2DopeBoyz. Come on Prom, you already know dude. T-Dot!

  2. WOW – Real man! The Money track was hot. I understand that M-Phazes was mad but to leave the comment he did wasn’t cool. You could say it wasn’t cool to “leak” the track but it wasn’t his intent to do so. Things happened and Promise took responsibility – track is hot so I hope the two can work together eventually….for real. Promise – you gotta watch it tho!

  4. T-DOT stand UP!!!!!!!!!!
How about a drake collabo, or a dviousmindz collabo promise!

  5. Dope track…instead of writing a diss track the emcee or person Promise decided to pen an apology track…dopeness

  6. this guys decent..but he needs to do his own thing and build…ripping beats off producers myspace and passing it off as “produced by m phazes” is basically feeding off someones light esp if you havent “paid” the producer/artist to use there name to use them as a light….

also he could have called the song “jacking for beats” or “dubplate” because that ruins it esp when m phazes is underground…if u do it with a kanye beat its a diff story cause phazes is huge and it isnt easy to fool others…….

and as far as letter to drake…if drake wasnt signed to interscope and famous would this guy really write a letter to drake?…so no matter how u explain it…its using other peoples name without permission to get attention….dude should just do his thing and make music…dont involve otghers unless they know and its mutual…put out music but put it out the right way with good respectable business sense

    keep doing your thing though

  7. i left the last comment in a heated moment of anger due to seeing the “money” track on about 9 blog sites (im sure there was more) so of course i was going to try and get it taken down and be heated, now that i know it wasn’t intentional (i didnt know before), then its all good and im happy he has done the right thing

  8. “It wasn’t leaked by me, you can ask shake for the truth”
Was it just me hearing things or did he just name-drop shake? lol

  13. M-Phazes! Ur Great and I’d love to hear you and this dude do something…..post in on here so I know. I think the way (in the end) how both of you dealt with this was big. It could have got messy.

To address the comment about Promise using other people’s name….I hear you and I’m glad you see value in what Promise is doing. I’ve bee following his music for a long time now (being from Toronto I have that opportunity lol) and I want to say a few things…. a) when it comes to Drake, this dude is friends like legitimate friends with him. I remember the days when Drake wasn’t big yet and Promise use to bring him places they still cool and I don’t think Promise is using his name. I this I also saw a comment somewhere where Promise said that Drake had heard this track. If you know Promise’s music you’d know that he would do a track if Drake wasn’t big – I think it’s a heartfelt track and I know subtly he has rapped about Drake before NOTHING BAD. B) When it comes to ripping M-Phazes as he said if you listened to all of the track, he took it and did a lil something on it and sent it to him to see if he wanted to do business – ummm so I can’t say he’s really using the name. C) Can you really call it using a name when you connect with people? I guess it’s in the context I mean if Promise changed himself, his style or his views to rap on a certain producer’s beat or to rhyme with a certain feature I think you could get him for that. I honestly get the feeling that this dude just loves making music and he wants to work with other GOOD music people. The other question I have is did we ever think that possibly Promise is friends with some of the people too? Dunno just a thought….so to sum it up……I don’t think Promise is trying to live off of someone’s name. I honestly think dude loves music and wants to make as much as possible. I don’t think he’s signed (although I did hear something about Duckdown – - can anyone verify that?) and he probably can’t afford to pay for a bunch of crazy beats. I also think that if he’s a real musician he may be inspired by what someone else does on something and thus may want to add a dub. I dont’ get it…some when rappers do dubs in hip-hop we get people calling them weak and riding off of someone’s name but in R&B we call it a cover and we judge the person (or group) accordingly based on how well they did the song. OK I’m really starting to ramble but I had to air it out. M-Phazes……shout-out to you, you’re real…Promise BIG-UP!
