The report also states that BART is looking into whether Mehserle mistook his strap for a Tazer stun gun. Are you serious!? How in the fuck do you mistake a service pistol with a stun gun? But at least this way since he resigned when the shit does go to trial he’ll be standing alone, not behind unions or the BART pd trying to cover shit up. As one who is trained in the use of both hand guns and tasers, I can assure you that they DO NOT feel the same! Besides, the practice of “drawing down” on unarmed, out numbered and over whelmed suspects, with either gun or taser, has to stop. The incedents of taser deaths and shooting of subdued suspects is alarmingly on the rise. You you don’t know it yet, you will soon, we live in a “police state” and it’s not likely to get any better. We need to wake up to the fact that the subsequint riots are just the first battles of an all out civil war! The police across the country have stirred the pot for years in an effort create a need for ever more weapons and manpower. Whether overt or covert, the orders to “mix it up” have gone out loud and clear from every watch captain… After all it’s hard to justify all of the “new toys” if there isn’t much crime. If you doubt this, just visit any airport and watch the former rent-a-cops shake down and harass law abiding citizens as the attemp to board their planes, say one single word to these thugs and you will find yourself in a holding cell, resist and you will be laid out on the floor, object to that and you may be shot!

It was obviously an accident. It was obviously not murder. No premeditation, no forethought. I feel bad for everyone involved and I refuse to destroy my community over this mistake. Praise Allah that some good citizen taped this so that we can all plainly see that this was an accident and nothing else.

Lets get a few things straight. No one here has been in the heat of the moment, because though a tazer and a pistol feel very different, in the heat of the moment they can feel similar. Also, the cop shot once, which normally doesn’t happen in a shooting (even by cops who should be trained to control themselves). Third, it was a shot to the body, which is where you’d shoot a tazer, not a bullet.
Tragedy? Yeah, no doubt. Does the investigation need to happen? Yeah. Go to trial? Probably. I’m not even saying he ain’t guilty, but there’s a chance he didn’t mean it, either. Unless you’re just a cold-blooded type dude, killing ain’t easy.
By the way — When I first watched it it looked like murder, but I’ve seen that video now at least 20 times, and if you get over being pissed it starts to look more and more like an accident. I’m still not sure either way.
