i dont read this blog to have political arguments but that was an incredibly ignorant statement. Jon you say that Republicans are cruel and that 400 years of slavery are moot (it never happened to anyone alive right?) This is such a cop-out, to act as if the legacy of slavery does not exist is to ignore the foundation not just of our economic system, but also what has caused the very basis of fundamentally flawed race relations we have in this country. THERE ARE BLACK MEN AND WOMEN WHO WILL NOT VOTE THIS ELECTION BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID TO DO SO. Tell the 80 year old people of color in Mobile, Alabama that slavery had no effect on them (they lived through Jim Crowe and Civil Rights Activism). Before you start talking about our country’s bipartisanship (and completely vague statement about government aid), how about you read up on how the system actually works.
