Kanye West - Love Lockdown (New Version)

Kanye comes through with his promise. Here is the re-sung/re-drummed version of his latest single off 808’s & Heartbreak. I have yet to listen to it as I’m in a meeting at the moment but I’ll add my thoughts as soon as I can haha.

  1. It’s much better than the first version that dropped.. But still..

    *Cranks the live version*

  2. That’s more like it. Still don’t know if it will get main stream play though not that Ye cares about that stuff these days.

  3. He performed it at the VMAs. how much more mainstream can you get??

  4. @Dave

I understand that but the question is will this get bumbed on hip-hop radio stations will it be a top 10 hit like Stronger or will it have more of a cult following like Can’t Tell Me Nothing which never got main stream radio play. I think this song is a bold move and I like it but I’m not sure if it will get spins thats all.

  5. kanye on some 50 cent shit

  6. alright I see what you’re saying. Yea I agree. I have a feeling it will get played a fair amount. Its new Kanye, people will bump it regardless

  7. I hope its much better than before… so far the best verison was the live one at the VMA’s.

I did not know kanye had been using the auto tune since like Late Registration.

Anyways thanks for the post shake.

  8. it will get replay regardless. based off his name alone. but this has a chance to have cross over success and be even bigger than stronger, etc.

  9. @sideshowRaheem

It will definitly be a top ten on radio play but…

who the fuck listens to the radio anyways Lol

  10. Sounds the same to me. I’m dead fuckin’ serious. And I don’t wanna hear nobody bullshit.

  11. Good, this is much better than the other two released versions. It just has a good vibe to it.

  12. This is the one Kanye song I can honestly say I’m disappointed with. He’s a clever dude, but…this will never get play again. I don’t even think I want the album, based off the title. 808’s & Heartbreak? Nah, I don’t wanna hear Kanye’s debut R&B album

  13. this is actually a major imrovement…it’s still kinda scratchy though

  14. the only thing i think is appealin bout this song is that kanye has gone back 2 those raw, natural beats like in the college dropout.

  15. Why do people assume the whole album gonna sound like this I don’t remeber Kanye saying that. I remeber when Stronger dropped and everybody thought Kanye made a techno album and of course he didn’t.

  16. I love the purposely distorted “System Overload”
and the new drums on the chorus.
    and the clearer chorus.
and the menacing synth after the 2nd chorus.
and the synth at the end.
and pretty much the fact that he listens enough to the fans to re-work it till it sounds better.
    I am happy.

  17. This Track is boss for real. He got the chorus right and this track is now the perfect single for Kanye, 50 Cent is in trouble now aka POOR RECORD SALES!!!!!

  18. @Raheem

He said that he is gonna sing this whole album and rap alil bit sooo yea. n if u heard his other junk “heartless” its mostly singin.

  19. i really fuck with this song. the chorus isn’t at THAT level i wanted but it’s much improved and works. i actually wouldn’t mind if Ye dropped an album with all material like this. like a side project almost which i still think 808’s & heartbreak is. *shrugs.

  20. @Big_E

On 106 & Park(not that I watch that garbage) he seemed to go out of his way to say it’s gonna be what ever he was feeling at the time.

  21. the voice still sounds like some demo studio recording…and the clapping is still present…don’t know where he’s goin’ with this album, but im not diggin’ it, it sounds like is turning to R&B and pop and that’s not what I wanna hear from Kanye.

  22. A LOT BETTER HOLY SHIT SO GOOD

  23. the song is dope, but the quality still sounds like shit. wtf?!

  24. Thank fucking god.

  25. I ain’t knocking him doing him. He a grown ass man. That’s his choice.

  26. vocals still sound a little muddy but this is fire..

  27. this sounds alot better but i dont see why Kanye really likes the autotune cuz its so fucking annoying. my thoughts bout this being the 1st single is still questionable. cant believe a video is in the works already. maybe this is an appetizer just like T.I. did with No Matter What but who knows?? Kanye does wierd/unexpected shit these days.

  28. Idk why but I love this song.

  29. dope. Who else can do a song like this and still be felt? He’s not scared to go out of his comfort area, which is where people make milestones. Dude is just versatile. Vesus someone like 50 who just spits the same garbage over and over again.

  30. Man i’m feeling this. It’s crazy awesome. This is why Kanye’s one of the best emcees ever. He can completely switch up genres and still succeed. I didn’t think I’d like it at first, but man, he proved me wrong.

  31. T-Pains cock stays in my mouth daily. The auto-tunes my real voice now!! The next album is gonna be the freshest, swaggiest album ever!! Support the artists.

  32. I still prefer the original, it’s disappointing because I’d hoped to hear a more daring and experimental track on the radio / at parties. This is a nice update of the live version though.

Still, I sigh. The effect on “system overload” was rather unnecessary.

  33. ITS A LOOOOOOOOVE LOCKDOWN LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE LOCKDOWN I BE SINGIN THIS SHIT 24.7

  34. lolol @ “kangaye west!”

    lol… swaggiest… ha

  35. i hate when ppl say “he’s maturing” or sum bs like that. That doesnt mean its good HIP HOP! If “maturing” means going str8 pop and tryin 2 make more money then fuck em! that aint wut hip hop bout and they can suck a dick! look at wut that shit did 2 weezy’s retard azz. Ill say that kanye and wanye r great artists, but they aint ever gonna be great emcees..

  36. I definitely like this, after 5 listens straight.

To all those bitching: how about you just respect the direction an artist is taking? He’s not here to make music for YOU.

  37. Ye got it right!

  38. love those drums

  39. Why can’t he make it more like the VMA performance? That was a dope performance and it sounded better… if he continues to tweak it then i think it’ll be dope

  40. Ill say that kanye and wanye r great artists, but they aint ever gonna be great emcees..

You must be kidding, Kanye is one of the hottest EMCEES I have seen in recent years. Since the college dropout this dude has been dropping memorable lines/verses/songs Hip Hop has ever seen.

    Lets Recap shall we:

My flow is in the pockets like wallets/I got the bounce like hydrolics/I cant call it I got the swerve like Alakholiks/My freshman year I was going through hella problems/Till I got up the nerve to drop my ass up out of college. - Get em High

Brains, Power And Muscle Like Dame, Puffy And Russell/Your boy been on his hustle you know what I’ve been up to/Killing yall Niggas on the lyrical tip/Mayonaise colored benz I push miracle whips. - Last Call

When it feel like livin’s harder than dyin’/For me giving up way harder than tryin’/Lauryn Hill said her heart was in Zion/I wish her heart still was in Rhymin/Cause who the kids gon’ listen to? Huh/I guess me if it isn’t you/Last week I paid a visit to the institute/They got the dropout keeping kids in the school From Champion

  41. Sounds even better. Like the new chorus. Don’t notice much difference with the drums although the beat is a lil different with some weird fx in the bg. I fux with it.

It’s good music. Regardless if you don’t want an R&B album from Kanye. He makes music for him. not you.

  42. OK, toy soldiers…at ease

  43. This is 100% better in my opinion… I didn’t really like this song too much until I heard this version… It deserves a spot in my playlist now for sure… And im really happy that he took out the his claps during the chorus, that made it sound unfinished.

  44. DJ Daz-One
    yeah i agree wit u…
that miracle whips line bout killed me first time i heard it

  45. It’s good music. Regardless if you don’t want an R&B album from Kanye. He makes music for him. not you.

exaclty…plus if you dont dig this song then so be it it’s your opinion…jsut dont piss, cry, and whine on some comments section of a website about how kanye is r&b now, and he is doing the t-pain/wayne autotune b.s., whah whah whah cry more go suck on ya momma’s tittays and get some of that warm miolk to calm yaself down. Good Music is good music…so be it if it’s not as Hip Hop as most of his records or not Hip Hop at all…

simple as this if you like Hip Hop…then you like ALL MUSIC…cause Hip Hop uses, samples, and gets influences from all genre’s of music…Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Electronica, R&B, etc etc…

in closing…Get the FUCK over it and live your life…bitchin ass suckas.

  46. P.S. –

    *goes in e-thug mode*

    Big E a bitch!!!

  47. The niggas that’s TRYING to defend another grown ass man’s song. That probably wouldn’t look your way in life. Need to get a life. Ya’ll talkin’ like ya’ll his A&R.

    ^^^
my blabbing rhetoric paragraph = (no A&R status)

Im jsut tired of these dudes bitching about everything…

you like it great…you dont then shut up and keep it movin…

    simple as that.

  49. hmm…someone don’t know how to take their own advice. Ain’t no reason to bitch about it the song. BUT, freedom of speech is a muthafucka.

  50. Keeps things interesting

  51. yo AyyDee…diggin the beats bro…

  52. hmm…someone don’t know how to take their own advice.

BUT, freedom of speech is a muthafucka.
You serious, bring up the ole “freedom of speech” ish?…*smh* aight whatever you say. ha.

“Keeps things interesting” — yeah sometimes, but also it does bring out the most e-thuggin of cats…shit gets tired and old. seriously.

keep making jabs homie…I’ll keep smiling…right on bro…

  53. I can see this as an intro track to his next album,it might be a little long for that but still

  54. dammit i still hear him clapping! o well at least he resung the chorus

  55. man you dudes have got to be kidding me. the only way this shit is bumpin in my ride is if he redoes the buffalo girls production, and has lauryn hill herself sing the song. this is some fruitcake shit man, and the production is booty. weak drums, weak everything.

  56. there is a god, i knew that old version couldnt have been the final

  57. hahaha i didnt think i couldnt speak my mind on here without being called a “internet gangsta” but wuteva. first off if u read my posts i didnt say i didnt like this song or kanye or even wayne. I aint got nothin wrong wit all types of music (cept country maybe). I bump sum techno, sum rock, sum classical, alotta r&b, and even sum pop shit. imma big music head but a hiphop head firstly n truly. im just disappointed in the direction the 2 “biggest” niggas in hip hop are heading… away from it. if u wanna try n fry me sayin wut i think isnt tru then go right ahead.

on the real tho imma addmit tho i got kinda carried away but when im blazed and think bout hiphop nowadays that shit always gets 2 me hahaha. tho i got this site 2 always put a smile on my face lol. good lookin shake n meka…

  58. this song killed hip hop

  59. smh

  60. now all ye has to do is release the instrumental and this song did not kill hip hop by the way

  61. how can this autotune bullshit be accepted by everybody? it takes everything out of a rap, the attitude in a voice. it leaves all mainstream artists who use it sounding even MORE like oneanother. The beat’s not in question, dude can produce, and he used to be able to spit. Go Getters shit and College Dropout was some amazing rap, this? Ye’s sold out even more

  62. now this sounds actually finished. like it.

  63. well i still feel the same way as i did before the song isnt his best but its a hell of alot better than the crap thats out there now he’s pushing the boundaries of music by a hip hop artist he’s trying to be different at the end of the day you gotta respect that this song is different and unique no matter how much u dislike the record its still one of the best out thanks to it not being like the same shit beside the autotune

  64. btw this song killed hip hop u must be special so im not gonna go as hard as i could on this topic but what killed hip hop wasnt this hip hop been dying!!!ever since soulja boy and hurricane chris and others stopped using lyrics and just made a whole bunch a crap that rhymes in a whole bunch of lines!!!!not this song its better than any soulja boy hurricane chris or any ring tone rapper’s that TRUELY killed hip hop!

  65. that’s what im trying to say. the day one of the best rappers (college dropout/go getters CLASSIC), turns autotune, its over. the mainstream rap game is dead, just my opinion, theres better hip hop out there (seattles WHOLE scene is better than your average clearchannel rap playlist)

  66. chase has a point

new artists these days just do shit that rhymes thinking the shit is easier than it looks. real rap/hiphop aint easy. real life shit, creative shit, not jockin people, no fake shit. it takes time to put it together and real artists do 3 12’s or 16’s or they get creative wit the bars now. not no simple 1 8 and a 6 or another 8. thats some bullshit. people like Soulja Boy, SOD Money Gang, Show Stoppas is a prime example. they dance. rap/hiphop aint dance. they shit is so stupid and simple for 5 year old kids to understand. they act hard when they fake. they careers wont last long.

  67. It’s all fun & games, MTF. You know how the internet is.

Thanks for the look on my music, brah.

  68. You serious, bring up the ole “freedom of speech” ish?…*smh* aight whatever you say. ha.

I had to take it there, homie haha

  69. ay yall bums, remember this name ELITE STATUS ENT. Outta DC MARYLAND VA…WE ARE HITTIN THE GAME HARD IWT A NEW SOUND SO BE ADVISED…im sure 2dopeboys will fuck wit us once we have a song or two under our belts…But We OUT IN WINTERPARK right now cookin up LEGENDS so u kno how we do

  70. Chorus is a lot better! much more energy in it! and I don’t really care for the autotune as long he has good lyrics and good producing! I’m also into the idea that this album is more like a side project, he was going to call his next album UniverseCity, he once announced and I think with his mother dying,…he felt like he needed a more emotional album. Anyway I’m feeling him with this one and I hope his album is going to be good and I’m sure his album will give enough diversity because that’s what Kanye does…he’s creative and won’t make a full R&B album, NO WAY JOSE!

I hope to god this is just some scam and someone is ripping someone else off. I cant take wayne auto robot voice singing as well as Ye’. Ye doing it is bad enough.

  72. this is my first time leaving a comment on here. yay for me!
    anyways…
    this song is garbage.
t-pain is bad enough, why would someone as creative as kanye want to emulate that sound.

  73. im glad one person see’s my view let’s just see how long artist like lil wayne soulja boy etc. can there music carry over years such as artist like jay-z nas people still listen to illmatic and reasonable doubt which means something. like howmany people still listen to the old wayne? the lights out the block on fire wayne not very many so kanye is hip hop and still one of the best

    to grilledsteeze

once a classic artist goes autotune its not over its just a change in artistic sounds just a thought i respect your thoughts though

  74. word, i’m not just bashin kanye dudes got talent (or used to? lol) but autotune i feel is a cop-out to make little 14 year old white girls listen to your music.

  75. [...] Kanye West - Love Lockdown (New Version) (2dopeboyz) [...]

  76. yo, ‘ye, the distortion on ’system overload’ is tight, but its a little too intense i think. sorta startles the listener. the track is fire tho. do ya thing

  77. iight hatin ass sucks

    1. hip hop aint dead, never was, may be one day but not now

    2. this song didnt kill hip hop, well b.c in #1 i said it aint dead

    3. its good for an artist to be pushing boundaries

    4. what’s the deal if dude wants to make his voice sound robotish? none yall suckas was talkin shit when roger troutman n dem was doin it. or when daft punk and other electronica artists did it? but hip hop cant do it? y?

    5. why do we insist on talkin shit in these boxes instead of just keepin shit movin if we dont like kanye’s autotune.

    any-fuckin-way…

    big ups kanye, shit’s dope

  78. i find it hilarious how y’all jump on ‘Ye’s nuts every time he does him, which is something different every time.

Have y’all not learned about ‘Ye by now?

I think he killed it with this one, its better than T-Pain can do with all his autotuneness.

    Remember Flashing Lights?

    It was “different.”

  79. [...] do you guys feel about the new Kanye joint - Love Lockdown? At first, I hated it – I thought, wtf? What was this shit? But after hearing it 3-4 more times [...]

  80. I’m sorry to comment on an old post but i have to say this…

Love Lockdown is one of the best things to happen in music in 08. I downloaded the first version to the good ol’ iTunes, deleted it, labeled it the biggest disappointment in Kanye’s career, then bumped College Dropout (what a classic). BUT, i started thinking about the guy’s career. He has ALWAYS been original. bringing something new to the game. something new to his catalogue. this is no different. Love Lockdown is pure music. built off of true emotion. it’s something i have never heard before. smh at those saying “HE’S USING AUTO-TUNE…WHAT A SELLOUT!” sellout? far from it. compare “Lollipop” to “Love Lockdown.” still not convinced? oh well. this music is not for you. i’m glad the biggest step in hip hop this year was taken by its biggest artist. I would say Love Lockdown is Ye’s best…but that would just get me shot….sadly. so i’ll just keep that to myself. call me a dickrider. call me whatever. i like the song.

    808s & Heartbreak - November 08

P.S. i think this makes up for the weak auto-tuned verses he’s been dropping lately. YEP, it does.
