Are you guys really all that surprised Merriman decided to have surgery? The only reason that he decided to have the surgery is because a certain QB is out for the season. No one wanted to knock NE down from their perch more than the Chargers and now they have an even better shot knowing that NE (probably?) won’t be hell for them in the playoffs.
