id you don't think the cool kids' music is "hip hop" then you don't know shit. raw ass beats with rapping over top of it is the essence of hip hop.

It looks like he made the video using photo-booth on a mac.
It also looks like he's trying really hard to insult them, but comes short. I am assuming he is arabic because he is complaining about Mikey wearing a keffiyeh, with a sign that says "My Culture doesn't equal a fad." What does that say about hip-hop? When a black man is being told he isn't Hip-Hop by an arabic person? So an arabic person can be Hip-Hop but not a black man with a thing for shrink to fit levis? Fashion has always had a hand in Hip-Hop. Tight jeans or not...Hip-Hop fashion has always been different.
From Grandmaster Flash with his stud bracelets and shiny gloves in the video to "The Message" to Lupe's Romanelli jackets and fall of rome jeans.

Your arguement is mostly a to each their own. You don't like tck factz or jay elect, that's fine. But so-called 'hipster' is 'wack'? Lets not forget the lcd drug rappers, and such and so forth. Hiphop has and will always be a to each their own. Even tho you should give it up to the rappers you named. Wats with all the labels anyway. Its fuckin HIPHOP!

Other than the pants thing (and Mazzi is far from the first to question that shit - I couldn't give a fuck less what clothes other guys wear, but they are all confused thinking they're lookin fresh in girls jeans) no one here has actually responded to what Mazzi brought up.

I don't really care to defend Mazzi and I don't necessarily agree with him - but he brings up some valid points.

I think making this record a specific diss to two people was a mistake. But the game is really strange right now. All these hipsters have so much hype, and for what? I don't listen to everything that Shake posts but I sample most and I'm still waiting for a Jay Electronica track that I like. The cool kids aren't whack, but they're nothing special. Micky Factz has a ridiculous amount of hype (in nyc), and loves dropping his 'the leak' (big up mtv ad people), but can someone please point me to one track that is fire? One track from any of these new breeds that reminds you of the first time you heard an early (any big time rapper)? Mazzi ran through album covers of a lot of classic rap albums, are we ever going to see a Cool Kids album in the canon of hip hop classics? No one can know, but it seems unlikely, right?

How many people know about the S.O.U.L Purpose album from 03? On a credible (but I think now defunct) underground label (Coup D'Etat). Well regardless, It's hot. And certainly caters to the upbeat, white friendly styles of Cool Kids etc. You are all so quick to dismiss this cat, but he does have some credibility, and certainly more experience than those he's attacking.

To me, most of the hipster rappers are just the rap Good Charlotte, they can make some catchy ass songs (peep The Knux), but that shit doesn't last. And where is punk music now? I don't mean to say that hipster rap is the death rattle of hip-hop, but it may never be the same.
