The Rub – The History of Hip-Hop v20 (1998)

20080313-rub1.jpg

I’m a few days late on this, mainly because the server that was originally hosting these crashed. The good folks of The Rub found another server DJ Ayres banged out the 1998 mix. I also took the liberty of fixing all the previous links so be sure to check those PREVIOUS drops. ‘98 brought us DMX’s classic Ruff Ryders Anthem, The Lox’ Money Power Respect, Nore’s Superthug, Canibus dropped Second Round K.O.. Master P had the world screwmin UGGHHHH, Sporty Thieves called out all the cheapskates, Xzibit’s 3 Card Molly with Ras Kass and Saafir. What else? Oh and the incredible Back That Azz Up from Juvenile and the very young weasel haha. Enjoy…

  10. it was my ringtone on my old phone.
I need to put it back on my new one. That track will forever be the shit. I actually heard it in its entirety on the radio a few months ago, that made me happy.

  11. “Spottieottiedopalicious” is possibly my fav Outkast track. I like “Elevators” more, but Spottieottie has the nice ska/reggae vibe in there, and I’m a sucker for slick spoken word. Plus, when I was expanding my mind herbally, that used to be my zone out track.
